reality is that Singapore got land limitation
:(
If this happens means we have to pull our local resources to improve jb economy. Rise in gov expenditure leads to inflation then recession even faster and longer. Might be good for long run but which sinkies want help jhks who are not close to them?

We’re not a stepchild, Johor needs funds, Sultan Ibrahim tells Putrajaya

PETALING JAYA: The sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, has criticised Putrajaya over the lack of federal funds for the state, saying he felt as if Johor was being “treated” like a stepchild.
The sultan urged Putrajaya to give Johor more funds, pointing out that allocations for the state were “starkly disproportionate” to the RM13 billion Johor contributed to the federal coffers annually.

Sultan Ibrahim said he was unhappy at the state of federal government buildings and facilities, especially the hospitals and the immigration checkpoints.

He also lamented the pothole-ridden federal roads and Putrajaya’s unfulfilled promises of expanding the North-South Expressway and the Senai-Desaru Highway.

“If this trend continues, Johoreans may agitate towards secession from Malaysia. Perhaps Johor can be more developed if we stand on our own,” he said when opening the new meeting of the Johor legislative assembly.
Sultan Ibrahim also said the federal government’s decision to drop its claim on Pulau Batu Puteh at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) impinged on the state’s sovereignty.
“The federal government did not consult Johor on this decision, even though this involves Johor sovereignty,” he said, adding that it was a breach of the state’s rights under the federation agreement.

This is not the first time that members of the Johor royalty have spoken out against the federal government’s treatment of the state.
Johor crown prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim previously spoke on the lack of funds for the state following a fire at Hospital Sultanah Aminah.
Sultan Ibrahim also said local councillors and village heads should be appointed based on merit rather than political affiliation.
He also decreed that all state government projects cannot carry any political messaging in their signage or announcements.

He said a project should be identified as “a project by the Johor government” as opposed to “a Barisan Nasional or Perikatan Nasional government” project.
Sultan Ibrahim further decreed that cash aid for the people should be channelled through government agencies, district offices.

I'm sorry la. Johor has to form its own country first, and let it be comparable to Singapore, or even better than Singapore. Only then can I accept Singapore to be Singapore, Johor.

I mean, in terms of size, Johor is many times bigger than Singapore. Obviously is big fish eat small fish, not the other way round.

Nonetheless, it looks like this is only about Johor asking for more money from the federal government. It does not concern sovereignty. It is only about the way the Kuala Lumpur federal government allocate funds to the respective states of Malaysia.

Federation is like United States of America

each state retains their own governance and policies
:(
Only federal level policies apply to all states
:(

federal states submit all their revenue back to central govt to disburse out the state budget

the article says johor buay song.. give chicken, take back only chicken wing.

he should join Singapore as federal state..
then can give chicken wing, take back chicken.

Please, PAP - lease Johor land/sea/air for 999 year from the Sultan and build a wall around JB

Suddenly, there is:

- More space to build HDBs

- More space to farm! No more begging bowl

- Can build newer ports, additional airspace.

- Can expand rain water facilities in addition

If PAP really has so called foresight, they will do this than sit on their a$$ and kpkb about how Putin/Ukraine war/Martians ban chicken export etc.,.

But knowing PAP they will never do - because they don't have ball$
