Sorry to hijack the thread, but is it always worth it to purchase the JR pass if you are travelling out of Tokyo to Hakone/Osaka? Where are the more notable places that are not covered by the JR pass?

yes, its worth the cost of an JR pass when you make a round trip between Tokyo and Osaka via Shinkansen within the 7 days period

Hakone is not covered by JR. But you can use it right to Odawara, then start paying Odakyu from there onwards.

I think your seeing the price as purchasing 1 ticket. If your paying as more than 1, the extra charge will be free.

I just tried to add 2 x 14 days JR Pass to Singapore and the total sum to pay showed $1108. There was no delivery charge.

oops i selected hokkaido pass, false alarm

On a sidenote, have you called up Pricebreaker to ask them for the price? I called them to ask about the price of 7 Days pass and was told it cost $362. This price is $15 more than what I pay via the website. If the price difference is smaller, I may have gotten them from Pricebreaker.

also would like to know if it's ok to order it from the japan-rail-pass.com now if I'm flying on the 31st. Will it be too tight ?

sgd, what you see is what you get charged on your cc.

i recall less than one week will receive the pass.

you hit the minimum for free courier right? otherwise, not worthwhile.

Haha, received. luckily no issues. Just a question: the JR pass i received is printed. That's ok right ? Cause the exchange voucher I get locally is always like a booklet.

seems like a new thing. does that mean you can use straightaway?

if so, that's so much more convenient than having to exchange! since the opening hours of the JR offices varies. i got an exchange voucher last year which was a booklet with the details printed.

haha, what i meant was that my exchange voucher is actually printed instead of the std booklet. So now it's one thick piece of paper printed on all sides and folded so it looks similar to that of the exchange voucher you get when buying locally
