the JR pass is in terms of day and not time.
7 days starts from the day u activate the pass. so if u activate the pass on arrival at narita to take the narita express, then that is ur day 1, regardless of the time u first use it.

Thanks, I will be in japan for 9 days.

This means on day 7 2359rs, the pass will expired assuming I use it for the Narita Express from airport to hotel on day 1.

And I have to pay the Narita express on day 9 from hotel to airport.

Anyone has any cost effective method to save on my transportation? Appreciate it.

yes, it will cover only day 1 to 7 if activate on first day.

btw, where will u be visiting in those 9 days? if u are travelling only around tokyo, u will not need the JR pass. JR pass is very expensive (28300yen) and is used mainly to cover long distance shinkansen rides.

assuming u are getting JR pass, u can buy the suica+NEX package to cover the narita express trip from narita to tokyo. then use JR pass on day 3 to day 9 to cover the return trip. this is because the suica+NEX package is only available at the airport

if u are not getting JR pass, the suica+NEX package also comes in 2-way version. there are also other means to travel between airport and tokyo, such as limo buses and keisei line

Yes, i will be taking the bullet train to Osaka (USJ) and back to Tokyo, so I think JR pass will save me some money.
Suica+nex package, limo buses or keisei line, which one is the cheapest and fastest for 2 adults and one child? From Narita airport to shinjuku hotel.

He is 5 going to be 6 this year, thanks for this info.
if you want to save money, you can take the Keisei Limited Express, at about 1,000 yen for adult and free for children under 6 (at start of 2013). Travel time about 70 mins to Nippori Station / Ueno Station.

It is basically a "mrt-like" train with inward facing seats. Given that you will be taking the train at the airport, you will get seats.

PS: I just realised that you initial question on free train ride for children, was referring to the Kaisei Skyliner. While children below 6 should be able to travel for free on most trains, I think there may be some charges for selected seats train.

Hi all, I am planning to get the keisei skyliner + 2 days metro pass from Narita airport to hotel.

Does this metro pass covers below trips?

Shinjuku station > JR Chuo > JR Keiyo line > Maihama station
Shinjuku station > JR Chuo > Ginza Subway line > Asakusa
Shiodome station > Daiba station. (Yurikamome elevated train)
Tokyo Teleport station > rinkai line > Shinjuku station

Can anyone confirm that there is a ticket office at Shinjuku station where I can change my exchange order for the 7 days JR pass.

Hi all, I am planning to get the keisei skyliner + 2 days metro pass from Narita airport to hotel.

Does this metro pass covers below trips?

Shinjuku station > JR Chuo > JR Keiyo line > Maihama station (Does not cover fully by Tokyo Metro pass) (You can take Tokyo Metro from Shinjuku to Shin-Kiba via a few transfers, then pay 150yen for JR Keiyo Line to Maihama)
Shinjuku station > JR Chuo > Ginza Subway line > Asakusa ( It covers when u go via this longer route: SHINJUKU > Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line > GINZA > Tokyo Metro Ginza Line > ASAKUSA)

Shiodome station > Daiba station. (Yurikamome elevated train) (Does not cover)
Tokyo Teleport station > rinkai line > Shinjuku station (Does not cover fully) (Pay 260yen for the Rinkai line from Tokyo Teleport Stn to Shin-Kiba, then take the reverse as number 1.)

Can anyone confirm that there is a ticket office at Shinjuku station where I can change my exchange order for the 7 days JR pass. (Link is here.)
