If VFM is the key, there are many choices.
And yes, with a built in DAC and limited connectivity, that can be an issue when next DACs emerge.

But this is like a Mac, style, convenience etc.

If I wanted the ultimate in sound and so forth, there are many other options, like bringing over my Musical Fidelity A 5.5 with a built in USB DAC, add my Usher speakers and I don't even need to buy this.

But having a 15kg stereo amp on my desktop isn't going to be fun. For 1.2k, it's a nice option.

Dynaudio speakers are above 1.5k, and no DAC, and no auto power on and off.

So I might as well stick to my current options, including keeping my Denon MCD 38 and just using the headphone output...

Hi guys, just wondering how does this speaker with its internal DAC stack up against Audioengine's A5+ connected to its D1 DAC in terms of sound quality? Given the price difference, is it even of the same league?

This is 1 pair of killer looking speakers :s13:

I audition it once. I am also looking for computer speakers. But the size really shock me. The picture look small but the real things are big. Like a full size bookshelf. The build in USB dac is a plus. I quite like the sound. But due to the size is out for me. I am thinking of the Monitor Audio WS100 now but dont have a chance to try yet.

The only concern may be future upgrading of better speakers or a better DAC, this kind of 'hybrid' system have it's cons in that aspects. just my 2 cents. ..btw nice setup of your H.T.S .

--> Ciel88 - How is the quality of A5 + D1 DAC? Good?

I'm loving the sound of my A5+ more and more everyday :s13: Really sounds good to me even without a DAC. Planning to get a DAC in the near future if I stay with my A5+. Would gladly recommend A5+ its worth the pricetag imo. Eventho its awesome and I don't regret buying, but I prefer something smaller, so I'm looking around to see if there is any smaller speakers that sounds as good. Ruled out B&W MM1, Audioengine A2 with sub and Focal XS 2.1. Currently looking at Paradigm Millenia CT 2.1 which has some rave reviews online and they look nice too :s13: Called Hwee Seng about the speakers. They said will get back to me soon. Anyone know where to audition them? Sorry if I'm off topic for this thread :D

Will write more later on..

Superb near field sound... volume control via iMac. Much better with the USB DAC than the 3.5mm input from the headphone out.

Clear but not harsh, decent bass, but those who watch movies may miss that sub. Very enjoyable.

Auto-shut off. Worth your while to get better cables. I use Audioquest Forest USB cables.

Sorry to dig up an old thread. Anyone knows the price and availability of these speakers in Singapore?

Thanks. How do you control the volume if it is plugged in through aux input? Do you have to change the volume for each speaker or is there a single volume control knob?

I understand the speakers have this auto standby function. Does the function work for both the 3.5mm and USB connection?

Mine works in the former but does not seem to work for USB as the speakers are always on even when I shut down my PC.

No issue with USB input and my iMac.

It's all good..
Everyone wants to help ..
I saw the peach tree decco 65. Tempting at 899 usd but I think the all in one concept of the Kef appeals.
I saw audio engine plus some others and their price comes close without a dac.

Hi Pete,

Any idea which local shop selling the decco 65 ?
The last i check with them, the nearest distro is in Thailand.

Thanks
