I hope someone will buy in bulk and retail it in singapore at a good price. I don't want to order directly from Amazon. I'm a technophobe. Having to configure vpn leaves me cold.

Most people can buy books without using the vpn. Then if you're 'found out', you can start using a vpn. So it's not such a big issue...

I almost wanted to, but decided not to. I will print out my pdfs instead of using the DX, too many devices lol

Used to do that. Collected stacks of them, even with selective printouts. Luckily b/w laser printer started to fall in price then, and Giant sells A4 box rims not too expensive.

Until I read how laser printers potentially emit toxic micro dust. Already suspected that, due to smell, but decided to cut down printing just in case. Even in office.

Inkjet too expensive. Not too sure about the quality of the current Epson InkTank printers, though.

Everyday I look at the one click order button.. But can't bring myself to click it..

Couldn't do it before. I think it was $489 for the first edition. At the current price, it is close to the first Sony eReader bought from the states.

I took the plunge and ordered the kindle dx before the promotion ended, together with a new paperwhite, using the method described by jeffyen2 (thanks, jeffyen2), without the use of vpn. It's not as hard as I'd imagined it to be. :)

However, I ordered about 3 - 4 days ago, but the order is still shown at Amazon as "Preparing for Shipment". I wonder why it's taking them so long to prepare shipping?

Don't worry about it. The Pw is sort of out of stock or in tight supply so they need more time..

Thanks, I guess patience is a virtue. :)

Anyway, my experience with Amazon is that they're not quick with shipping. I used to order a lot of physical books that could be shipped to my house directly. One thing I noticed.. they're actually really quite slow compared to, say, iherb.com, which I also use.

Amazon is really fast with 2-day local delivery. However for international markets, there are lots of variables involved so things may be slow. My experience has been very good with sg shipping, around 10-14 days turnaround...
