Only disadvantage here is if you want to get stopovers. Then one way savers do not give free stopovers, whereas, round trip saver award does.

You can ask SQ to add a stopover for 1 way savers at a cost of US$100. Similarly if u book a roundtrip saver, which allows for 1 stopover, and you want another stopover, u can do it for US$100.

Hi, u should not use ur miles for an economy ticket unless u planning to fully utilise the miles or ur miles going to expire soon.
Business 1 way is just 17.5k more than economy.

hi, meaning i redeem for 1 way trip for both of us? then she does the same for us?

was looking at seoul ecomony class, the surcharge is actually 300+

My experience with redemption have been very extreme. Either I book 1 year ahead and they clear very early, or they clear very last minute, like 1 week to few days before the actual flight.

Call in (or go to Ion) and ask for them to send a chaser, wait a few days to see if it helps.

Just to clarify, so the golden rule is to use the miles for business class and above redemption for the best bang for the buck?

Yes definitely. And always on the saver redemption. First class saver is cheaper than business class standard.

Dun think me or my friend will be too bothered abt that if it ever happen lol.
Is there a pressing need to sit with friend during the flight? Usually each of us will be occupied with our own sleep or IFE.

you use miles to redeem a ticket and you want to earn miles with a mileage ticket? use miles to earn miles, meaning no miles used? does that sound logical to you?

sorry, a newbie here and first time to redeem a flight. :s13:

anyway, miles used can't be same as the miles earned, right? :s13:

so just to confirm a flight using a redemption ticket din earn any mileage accrual?

FYI: if I use mile to pay the ticket ($1c/mile), not redemption. I can still earn mileage accrual. sounds logical to you? :s13:

I still don't get your logic. miles redemption = paying for your air ticket with miles. What is $1c? One dollar or one cent?

You use X (mileage) to pay/redeem a flight ticket and you expect to get X (mileage) back? It's different from using $ to pay for an air ticket and you get mileage.

Ie, you use/pay 15,000 miles for a SG-KL-SG ticket and you want to earn the mileage for the SG-KL-SG flights/sectors flown?

What I am saying is, besides for ticket redemption, you also can use cash plus mile (valued at $1c/mile) to buy a ticket and you still earn the mileage accrual. You need to try out to understand the logic. :s22:

Where did you see I expected to get X (mileage) back for X (mileage) redeemed?
Your eye or mind got problem? :s13:

BTW, what logics define it is not logic for a redemption ticket to earn mileage accrual? :s13:

I still don't know what is $1c/mile.

The answers are on the Krisflyer website.

You can pay partial miles + $ only when you have at least half the number of KrisFlyer miles required for an award flight or upgrade. Buy the rest at US$40 (or an equivalent amount in your local currency) for every 1,000 miles.

No, you won’t earn KrisFlyer miles when you redeem them for an award ticket.

To answer your last question, basically mileage are accrual, technically 'free' from purchased flights, hotel stays, etc. You use something obtained 'free' to 'pay'/redeem for a 'free' mileage ticket and you want to accrual miles on something that is 'free'. I have not come across any airline that does this.

only in recent years that people can buy partial miles for their flights redemption and also from credit card spending, etc. mileage accrual was started with the intention of loyalty, rewarding frequent flyers and encouraging them to fly within the alliance. so it's basically free miles to redeem free flights. does it make sense to accrue free miles on free flights redeemed with free miles?
