going this friday (30-Oct) and planning to stay at Berjaya Times Square... any comments?

Good if price is not an issue. Try Jojoba spa/massage at Berjaya Times Square, clean and good service. Sometime they have promotion package.

have you stayed in Capitol Hotel before? is it good?

nope.

I choose hotels/resorts base on users' reviews, price, cleanliness and location.

Capitol Hotel's reviews is not bad, in fact better than Melia Hotel which is closeby and just alittle more ex den Capitol Hotel.

Capitol Hotel's location is excellent as well. Only ard $80+ per night. :D

I dont go for those expensive stay as most of the time we will be outside of the hotel enjoying rather than stay inside the hotel to enjoy the facilities. So as long as the hotel is clean and reasonable to sleep den good enuff. Save the $ to enjoy outside. ;)

I do it differently. For holiday trip, if given the choice or if I book myself, I usually go for at least 4-star or 5-star hotel especially in the city where the 5-star hotel is relatively cheaper. KL 5-star hotel is one of the cheapest in the region.

After a day of tired shopping and sightseeing, it is good to have a super comfortable and shiok place to rest. Then, the next morning serves with wonderful breakfast.

Ask ourselves, will we book a 5-star hotel purposely to use the facility in normal day? So the only chance is during the holiday to pamper ourselves.

hmmm guess its up to individual eh...

caus for me like I say, I dont use their facilities like gym, swimming pool, bla bla bla, can do all these in SG.

so all I need is a clean and comfortable place to bath, watch TV and sleep as mostly the time where I am awake, I will be OUT of the hotel. :)

a 3 star hotel can be comfortable and shiok as well.... i mean how different can it get ? but yea, I wont go below the 3 stars mark... and like I mention, before booking, I always go thru at least 60% of all the user reviews to make sure it is reasonable to stay in.

I have stayed in 5 stars hotels when I am in Korea and Japan, their decor and views were excellent, but ask ourself all we need is a bed to sleep comfortably thru out the night.

Same sentiments.

You can get 5 star hotels for as little as S$120 something/nite, when there is promotion.

Unless you have corporate discount, RM120 cant find a decent 3* with good location. Unless you hv fren to fetch you around, it is better to choose a hotel around BB area for easy access to shopping, food & fun. Another area to choose is Petaling St but the 2* hotels there are not worth the <S$30 diff when compared to 3* at BB area.

KL is safe. Like every city, you follow the rules: dont go to quiet & messy place alone. Dont flash your wealth, wear like the locals, and yes, DSLR is safe. I saw many tourists carry DSLR. I only carry a PnS. Easier.

One thing to note is that for KL monorails (except BB n Imbi), there is quite a distance to walk to destination (eg KL Sentral). Eg. I took the monorail from Imbi (Time Sq) at nite around 10pm and wanted to go to Chinatown to eat the dark Hokkien mee & buy bak kwa. I aligned at Maharajalela. It took about 5 min walk to chinatown and the place is quite remote. I even took the wrong direction and ended up in a quiet place while walking along the highway. Lucky there was a petrol station n i asked for direction. I needed to turn back and walked another 10min before reaching chinatown. I am the only person who walked the >7min walk in a dim place.

My journey back: I took a cab to Time Square & it cost RM5 (due to jam at BB area), else it shld be <RM4. The monorail fare is about RM1.20.

Put your wallet in front pocket, don't leave your mobile phone on the table. When walking along roadside, be more alert.

Anyway, now you can travel by train direct from LCCT to KL Sentral.

u damn heng manage to find cabbie who din carrot u..

Cabbie mostly will carrot foreigners (like white, arab). Ppl fr SG look similar to Malaysian. As long as you dont speak loud, keep low profile, speak simple malay, you are alrite. You can even say you are from JB! hahaha...

Actually, there are very good cabbies in KL. I took 3 cabs in KL:

1. LCCT to Subang Jaya to visit my fren.

The fare quoted by the ticketing at int'l arrival is rm61. Then I asked another counter in domestic arrival & was quoted 84! I wanted to go back intl to buy at 61. However, when i walked to the place where taxi dropped off passengers, I asked a cab (Ah Singh) & was quoted 50. I quickly on. It was about 50 min trip and smooth. The Singh said I looked like Ah Tiong! Lol but i was carrying a mid-size deuter backpack...

2. Subang Jaya to Subang Parade to take KTM Commuter to KL Sentral:

Damn hard to get cab in the residential area. But managed to get a cab (Malay) & went by meter. Cost about RM9. Very friendly driver. :) KTM commuter is cheap but the train feel like 3rd world country. Cramp & air-cond is blowing warm air. There are frequent loud noise from the 'joint' of the train cabs and very shocking and annoying.

3. Petaling Street to Sg Wang

Chinese driver by meter. When he near BB area, it was traffic jam there. He said to drop me at Time Square & avoid the Bkt Bintang Road which was crawling. This saved me a few bucks (5 min wait is about RM1.5). When he dropped me off at TS, the meter read RM5.6 & he only collected RM5 from me. =:p I think normal trip shld cost about RM5 only.

I like to take cab by senior (>50) Malay drivers in KL, my personal preference only. Feel safer. :o

Can. Rapid KL will cost about RM35 & took about 30-40min. If you book this, there is a free shutter bus from LCCT to KLIA to take the train. Bus fare cost RM9 and took about an hour but depend on road condition. If no hurry, can take bus.
