Any recommendation for hotels in Kyoto?

I stayed at a small ryokan in the Gion district before.
It was not bad but have to find the name again

https://www.hotespa.net/hotels/nono_kyoto/english.html i stayed here recently. Onsen facilities good. Every night they serve free ramen and got free ice cream self help near the onsen area.

i second this .. NoNo is another brand under Dormy Inn. I stayed in Onyado NoNo in Osaka.

I like their concept where the entire property is tatami laid, can walk anywhere with room slippers (no shoes).

had stayed at Hotel Keihan Kyoto Hachijoguchi ... in Feb, paid just SGD 50 weekend night for Twin Room. Property is relatively new, with public bath (not onsen).
We moved from Osaka to Kyoto, just to save $200 over the weekend.

$500 a night budget is in different league to these

if I may hijack this thread. I am also going to Kyoto. I am landing in Osaka - Kansai Airport and going straight to Kyoto. How long does it take to reach Kyoto by train? Is it about 1hr 30mins?

In 2019 December, booked this for 5 nights on Booking.com at SGD939
It is a HUGE 3-Bedroom Holiday Home for 7 of us.
Owner is a very nice person and own some private properties on rent on Booking.com, reviews are all good.
He even invite all his guests on certain nights, to private dinners in Kyoto. We were invited too.

Any ryokan recommendations for 5 pax with at least 2 private bath? Doesn't seem to have many hotels that can cater for 3.

Very very nice hotel. Happen to pass by it when i take the scenic train. Only downside is its quite far out from city. So it will be a good 2 days out of city type of stay

Thanks. Will be great if hoshinoya has onsen. Been searching for Ryokan with in room onsen in the area but seems all sold out.

Found one suite in arima onsen for 5 pax (2 bed 3 futon) but little or no recent review and it costs 5k including kobe beef kaiseki. Is this reasonable or overpriced due to late booking (for Nov)?

if you willing to travel out... ive spent one day overnight in Kinosaki Onsen. 2 hr outside kyoto by train

https://visitkinosaki.com/
Its an onsen town, where there are 7 public onsen on the same street, where you can do onsen hopping (until your skin breaks!)

Nice, I stayed at Keihan in Osaka which only opened in March this year. Only problem is there’re only 3 laundromats and u lock it with PIN number when using it which is fine but even after the washing/drying is done it needs the person to come unlock it and those jokers who MIA made it annoying

Don't know abt suite with onsen but I like arima onsen best still, taiko no yu there specifically. I went Kinosaki recently but didn't think it's as good cause it's too hot imo lol, they all start at abt 40+ degrees celsius it feels. Taiko no yu has tiered temp onsens towards the hot side and cold side as well.

Nice, this looks fun, have many facilities. Have to book accommodation to use the facilities?
