Hi all, i just bought a new ACER laptop from the CEE show from Challenger on Sunday.
However, i found that the laptop battery indicator of the battery is very inaccurate.

Illustration.
The battery is showing 100% when it is fully charged.
after using some time , eg. battery drop to 64% displaying 3 hours left
then after some time 54% 5 hours left. (should be lesser.)
The percentage left and the estimated no of hour and minutes left is not consistent.

I have already tried re calibrating the battery by discharging it to 3% and recharging it to the full capacity 100%. This was performed twice, using the Laptop utility software provided.
I have also deleted and reinstalled the windows battery drivers. Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery Driver.

Please advise if this is a defective laptop?
Am i able to do an exchange with the shop?
This is so frustrating... any experts kindly help pleaseee....

The time left estimate is based on your current usage rate... If you were playing games the time estimate left will be less

Don't look at the "hours left" it's calculated depending on your usage...

If you're just surfing web on low screen brightness, it'll last longer than you watching movies at high brightness...

Not happy, contact Challenger and change lo

Thanks all.
I did not play game but was doing some light surfing and office work on the laptop.
I also did not change the settings of the laptop battery plan while I was using the laptop.

The percentage drops seems ok but the time estimated is very inconsistent.

It's inconsistent because laptop is not draining the same amount of watts at anytime during ur web surfing or work.

But within 1 percent.
Say like 56 percent fours hours and 49 minutes
55 percent 2 hours and 20 minutes
54 percent 4 hours and 50 minutes.

The drainage of the battery seems fine. But it is the estimated time remaining that is too wide.
Just wondering if this is the case for new models of laptops?

Why is My Battery Estimate never Accurate?

The page is a good read. also has a linked article on how to calibrate your battery if you wish to do that...

The laptop cannot predict the future. It can only tell you an estimate on how much time left by monitoring the usage of your laptop...

should i ignore estimated the time remaining of the laptop?
The most important is that the laptop battery is good.

The estimated time remaining is useful for example when u playing game it says 2hrs left then you will get 2hrs left while playing game

But when u start watching porn instead and it changes to say 5hrs left means u will get 5hrs left while watching porn

End of the day it is just an estimate that is no more accurate than yourself looking at the charge left vs the current usage rate.

The most important is that the laptop battery is good.

If the battery deplete fast than there is a issue.
Use software like HWmonitor, check the battery wear level.

Under Lemon Law, one week you can excahnge and within 6 months if it doesn't perform well you can seek remedy from the place you brought from.

Cheers.
