TS, what was the initial problem you had before sending to Asus? Their laptop come with a lot of bloatwares, best to do a clean install.

BSOD > Stuck in start up repair loop > system memory error
Tried to do Asus system recovery by selecting the option 'recover windows to first partition only' and then faced with 'bootmgr' is missing.
With that, I can no longer boot into anywhere.. Eg. Safe mode, disk drive etc..

Just uninstall them is fine.

You can always choose to retain XP or W7 and install any of the Ubuntu distro on existing Windows partition using wubi. Just need to download the ISO file you like and use wubi to install, after which you end up with dual-boot OS at boot up. For netbook, choose Lubuntu instead.

prob is, I cant seem to see any1 selling a Ubuntu Usb preloaded with boot & drivers. Im still looking anyway


Help needed :
- Vaio netbook reformat, budget $20
- pref Usb format (Ubuntu etc) as no CD drive (its netbook)
- willing to topup$ for a bootable Usb drive (Ubuntu at Amazon $24)
