Would like to seek recommendations for a laptop that will be used by primary school children.

Budget is definitely below <$1000.
Trying to get a value for money product that can last for some time.
and at same time not so heart pain if it is damaged by water spill or drop, since it is to be used by kids.

no gaming.
the usual MS words, browser, and youtube activities.

thanks

How about the Lenovo Flex 5 which is available on Amazon? It's S$903 on Amazon Singapore with Ryzen 4500U and 16Gb of RAM. Think the stylus could also come in useful for a student?

Personally, I will skip both the above. With 1000 budget, u can get better value laptop.

Look for a newer CPU like Intel Core i3/i5-10xxx or AMD 4xxx. RAM 8GB, SSD 256GB within your budget. Once u locked into few laptops then check the review online.

The laptop should last yrs, except battery if normal use.
should i be considering
i3 or ryzen 3 models?
or just go for i5 and ryzen 5?

not many options for the new cpu in SG market.

For primary school kid, i3 or ryzen 3 is enough for basic surfing, youtube, office, FB, twitter, gaming, etc. If it fits your budget of cause go for i5 or ryzen 5 or higher :D

Most important is to check if it is using ssd for hard drive. Ssd will speed up your comp, compare to HD, than the processor.

My take is to go for something more kids friendly like spill proof keyboard, touch screen and 256gb SSD within your budget. No need powerful processor.

ya...thinking if i should just for ryzen 3...
but the lenovo ideapad ryzen 3 does not allow for SSD upgrade.
think +$100 to upgrade to ryzen 5
