Had problem posting last night... thanks for the good review!

How much is the surgery?
When I called they also told me that there's slot this week, but I can't find someone to bring me home until the school holidays so I scheduled in March. I have also made an appt with SNEC Dr Rosman.

Hi everyone, as mentioned, here’s my lasik experience with Dr Natasha Lim.

As usual, I did my fair amount of research and asking around before I decided to go for lasik.

After filtering through the forum and recommendations by friends, I shortlisted either Dr Lee Shao Bin @ Shinagawa or Dr Natasha Lim @ Dr Natasha Lim eye clinic.

Considerations factor (TLDR)

1. Dr Lee is famous for being ethical and safe in his practises. He will not hesitate to reject you if you are not suitable or safe to do lasik.

2. Dr Natasha has great reviews on Google and Facebook. idesign ilasik is the most advanced technology for intralase lasik. This helps better for correcting astigmatism (more accurate) and better night vision.

My full experience:

I went to Shinagawa to perform my lasik suitability assessment and was cleared by Dr Lee

I then proceeded to book with Dr Natasha Lim clinic for eye assessment, consultation and surgery on the same day.

.....
Thanks for reading, please feel free to shoot me any questions here!

About $4k inclusive of medicine. First consult $65, cross linking is separate.

Tbh can get help from nurse or admin to help book grab home. The taxi stand is directly downstairs from the clinic.

just take a short rest at the clinic after the surgery. Wear your cool shades and you're good to go.. book a grab

for my case, i rest a while at the lounge at EEC and then grab back to office to settle some work before heading home to rest.

Hi everyone! I would like to go Shinagawa for lasik. Can I get the referral from one of you who have done your lasik at Shinagawa? I can’t pm anyone as I’m new to this forum. Thanks in advance! :)

Did TransPRK. This is my journey so far:

Day 1: Scratchy and watery eyes. Kept tearing as though someone was cutting onions. Instilled my eyedrops and went to rest while listening to podcasts.

Day 2: Pain greatly reduced. Vision is blurry and extremely sensitive to light.

Day 3: Went back to the clinic for first review. The optometrist says my exterior skin is 60% healed. Recovering well.

Day 4-6: Not much difference in vision, still blurry. Eyes are dry sometimes and I am starting to feel uncomfortable with the bandage lens. Still following the medication regime.

Day 7: went back to the clinic for bandage lens removal. Vision still blur with no improvement. Eyes still dry.

Day 8: felt uncomfortable with the dry eyes. Went back to see the doc and he assured everything is fine although he observed there is some dryness for the eye. Told me to increase the dosage for Cationorm.

Day 9-10: Continued to instill eyedrops regularly per schedule. Vision started to fluctuate with clearer vision before regressing back to blurry vision.

Day 11: Vision continues to fluctuate. Observed some improvement in the average clarity.

Will continue to update as it goes..

Anyone went for monovision? Do you regret it?
I went to SNEC for assessment and the doc wrote a prescription for contact lens for monovision so that I can try out to see if I can adapt to it. Not sure if it's because the difference between my 2 eyes is more than 200deg.

Hey! I’ve just had my Relex Smile (no collagen linking) done about 10 days ago at EEC. For me my left eye is still blurry with some degree and astig but right eye sees well at 20/20 now. During my post op 1 week checkup I checked with the doc on why my left eye was blurry but didn’t really get any specific answer except that my eyes are healing well and it depends on how my body heals. I was quite worried as well but I have read other accounts of varying recovery rates for people.

Just wondering did anyone here still have degree and astig post op and still managed to recover well etc? My left eye experienced suction loss towards the end of the procedure, but the doc told me still can continue cause it was towards the end. Not sure if it’s a contributing factor to the healing.

Also, hope it gets better for you too - agree with not reading too much of the horror stories online, those really don’t help. 😅 I just tell myself to be patient and not be too obsessive with checking my vision all the time.

Hi!

I'm also considering SMILE @ EEC or SNEC. May I know how your recovery is now & which Consultant you went with? Also if you don't mind sharing how much the final cost was at EEC? :)

Here to share my experience with EEC after 3 days post Lasik after having benefited from this thread. I did the bladeless lasik with Dr Julian Theng, and was able to regain functional vision with minimal discomfort the next day.

Day 0:
- Arrived at the clinic, did a couple of eye test to check my degree, cornea thickness, cornea topography, myopia, astigmatism to determine if I was a suitable candidate for the procedures they offered.
- I was brought to a consultant who assessed that everything was normal (avg cornea thickness, low myopia & astig) with exception that the degree of my right eye is high (700). I was keen to do SMILE, but was told most people go for EpiLasik or Bladeless because SMILE removes quite a bit of cornea tissue. She recommended EpiLasik because more cornea tissue is required to be removed with higher degree when thinning the cornea to reshape it, and theoretically EpiLasik can save more cornea tissue than Bladeless/Smile. Most of the time was spent on explaining the ICL procedure, which I originally thought should be reserved for patient's who weren't lasik candidates b'cos it's more invasive. I was told that ICL could be done on the very day as they might have stock for the lens since I've no myopia or astig).
- During the subsequent assessment with Dr Theng, he made the decision making really simple. He recommended bladeless if Lasik was the preferred choice. I found it bit strange why SMILE wasn't recommended as an option because it should be a more profitable procedure since it's more costly :s13:. But I trusted his recommendation 100%. He mentioned something about localizing treatment to preserve cornea tissue. I asked if I would require the cross linking collagen, to which he replied that we could wait and see after the procedure if it was required. I'm impressed by his professionalism. I would have agreed to ICL with additional cross linking if it was his recommendation - anything for the vision I'll have for the next decades of my life.
- Had the procedure during late noon on the same day. It took a grand total of 34 minutes from the time I arrived at the clinic for the procedure, to the end of the procedure. The procedure was painless, just bit of discomfort when suction pressure was applied. Dr Theng has excellent bedside manner, and the confidence and calmness of his voice is very reassuring. When it was over, my vision was hazy but functional. There was no sensitivity to light nor pain, and I could read from my phone. It was possible to take public transport home alone, but I took ryde.
- Was prescribed Vigamox and Pred Forte to apply every three hours. I took Vit C and fish oil supplements daily a week prior to the procedure and continued to do so in hopes that it will speed up the recovery. I reported back to the clinic 16 hours later and vision was 6/6.

Hi guys, i am really keen to do my lasik/icl. However, I would need to redo the assessment for my eyes as I last did mine at SNEC in 2019. Clinic told me the results are only valid for 6months while record is available for 2 years.

As such, I know the price for pre-assessment is not cheap as well. Thus, I would like to get a referral code if possible to do the assessment at Shinagawa for the cheaper cost and to see what procedures would be offered there.

Other than that, would any recommend to directly visit eagle eye ( i see alot of good reviews and the cost) for the assessment and procedures if the cost ar Shinagawa would lastly add up to be around the same?

Thanks for the help guys!

Hello, I decided to register as a member here as I realised there isn't much information about ICL here and would like to share some of my experience.

I have always had terrible eyesight since young (started wearing glasses at K1) and my eyesight would deteriorate at an alarming rate of about -1.00 every year. By the time my eyesight stabilized, I was about -10.00 for both eyes with astig of around -2.00 each. My spectacle lens are so thick that it affected my confidence. My parents would not let me get contact lens so I had to seek an optician secretly and paid for them myself when I was 16. Bioinfinity Toric by coopervision is a really good brand by the way, if you experience dry eyes after wearing contact lenses for a few hours, it really saved my life after switching over from Biomedic Toric.

About 2 years ago, I went to Shinagawa Eye Centre to do a pre-lasik assessment and consulted Dr Lee. I was told that as my degree is too high, and most of the cornea would have to be shaved away if I were to do lasik, and that would leave me with a cornea that is too thin and weak. Dr Lee recommended me to do ICL but Shinagawa did not provide that service. I looked up the price of ICL and decided it was too costly.

Just two days ago, I went to do another pre-lasik assessment at SNEC as it was stated on their website that the ICL surgery fee is S$6,131.10 to S$6,837.30 (I think it's for one eye). I went through all the various tests, eye pressure test, cornea measurements etc (it took about 2 hours for the tests) and consulted Senior Consultant Dr Rosman. He told me that ICL is more suitable for me than LASIK too but he told me that the distance between my cornea to the lens in my eye just fell short of about 0.13mm from the recommended distance (3.00 mm). The minimum distance required for ICL is 2.8 mm and mine was 2.87 mm. He told me there is a risk of cataract etc and didn't seem very confident of doing the surgery for me.

I told the Dr I would think about it and asked for the full results report but was only given the refraction report (just measurement of my eye power with and without the cycloplegic eye drops). Also, I was quoted an estimate of S$14,059.80 to S$15,172.60 of surgery fee for ICL for BOTH eyes. The total consultation fee at SNEC was more expensive than I thought too - $299 for a senior consultant. I decided to look for another specialist for a second opinion and immediately made an appointment at Eagle Eye the following day.

I chose Dr Val Phua, a consultant, but specializes in ICL. He was previously from SNEC too. I still had to go through all the pre-lasik assessments even though I showed them the report from SNEC. It was really crowded at the clinic at King Albert Park and the wait was really long. I went there at 1pm and left at 5pm. When I met Dr Val Phua, he asked about my concerns and he said the distance between my cornea to lens is about 3.10 mm and said I was suitable for ICL, although he did mention my cornea is slightly irregular shaped. He showed my the surgery fees which was about $8.5k for BOTH eyes(not incl other assessments post surgery) and I was thinking this should be the right amount that I read in the forums!

I was appalled as to why SNEC had higher rates than a private clinic.. and it's a significantly higher rate (almost 2 times!) Is it because SNEC specialises more on medical conditions pertaining to the eye and not that much on cosmetic surgeries?

Anyway, I felt like Dr Val Phua was more confident and reassured me that the side effects like cataract only happens to very few people and I am going ahead for the surgery! Will update my recovery process when the surgery is completed :)

Hi there! Any updates on ur progress or operations? Am very keen to do the ICL as that was the option provided by SNEC to me 2years ago as well. But I would be making a 2nd advice from eec soon as well.

Also any breakdown of cost for reference?

Thanks!

welcome and congrats!

mine too was by Dr Julian and yes, his voice is like having calming effect.

I was having the same questions as you too regarding the SMILE being more expensive, but how come they recommended the cheaper procedure instead. haha. but im not complaining as I set aside budget for SMILE without cross linking. Since will be doing the epi i might as well do cross linking together since got budget. lol

Do you have short-sightedness too? If so, monovision might be able to help, though not everyone will get used to monovision (1 eye being uncorrected).
