Anyone experience blood vessels in the whites of the eyes and a grey rim around the pupils after TransPRK? Is it normal and how long it took to be normal?

I had red blood vessels for a few days then disappeared. But not sure about ur grey rims.

I have done pre-assessment at Shinagawa and Clearvision.
1. Shinagawa: Staff were professional, however, seems like clinic only provides intralase lasik (bladeless, flap creation). Response via Whatsapp very quickly, assessment took 2.5hours.
2. Clearvision: Felt that assessment was done in a rush, but doc (Dr Huang) was alright, answered my questions patiently. Clinic provides transPRK and Smilerelex. Response via Whatsapp very quickly too, assessment took 1.5 hours.

Decided to go for transPRK as I thought it's better in the long term though recovery is longer. Booked surgery date with Clearvision mid July (earliest slot quoted was end June).

Not sure if these clinics can claim Medisave, suppose you will be eligible to use Medisave since the power between both eyes is 300.

Can I know why you say TransPRK is better got the long term?

Why do most of you choose TransPRK over SMILE? Any specific reasons?

prk = stongest for weak thin corneas , but long recovery& discomfort .

Lasik = immediate vision, longer dry eyes, has iris tracking / wavefront so treat high degree / astig the best.

Smile = less dry eye but no tracking rotaton compensation / poorer for high power & astig.

Can I know why you say TransPRK is better got the long term?

I decided on TransPRK as I wasn't entirely comfortable with the thought of creating a flap which may cause any complications in future e.g. IF I were to fall, do bungy jump etc. though recovery takes a while. But of course, I had the luxury of taking almost 1.5 weeks of MC and not worry about my work email exploding.

Technically I didn't choose TransPRK over SMILE, but rather was recommended by my clinic. I didn't second question why not SMILE over TransPRK but I did my research and was comfortable and aware of the TransPRK procedure/recovery. I would say it's never a specific procedure that is better (each clinic will sure say all the good things about the procedure they are recommending, and highlight the negative side of the rest), it's just how comfortable you are with the clinic/doctor/procedure/recovery.

They will remove the protective lens 1 week after the lasik. But usually blurry is cause of the dryness and is part of the healing process.
