Anyone who had moderate-high myopia and considered doing epilasik before? I have myopia of around 600 degrees and I am getting contradictory advice from different clinics. Clinic A is not recommending chances of getting haze after surgery for degrees greater than 500 is significant (well, at least significant enough to not recommend the procedure). Clinic B does not have a maximum threshold for epilasik (but would recommend cross-linking if the power exceeds 800 and/or someone with thin corneas – my 520 um corneas were considered thin). Clinic C said no problem at all (and cross-linking isn’t even needed.)
bro, thanks for getting back! i assume you had went for the 1 day and 1 week follow up, right?
how is your corrected vision? is it 20/20?
and from your 2 posts, which surgery did you go for? epi or lasek?
bro, can you roughly give a recovery timeline at a later time, together with the complication or discomfort that you encountered.
just met a friend who did lasik a few years back. asked him about the dry eyes, he said he still experience dry eyes, and he said it is inevitable as the tear gland nerves had been severed.
Hi im new to lasik and i would like to have perfect vision after going through this surgery. Some questions i have in mind i went to get a quotation from clearvision and the overall price including gst which i have to pay is around 3.6k. They mention that this is called trans epilasik is it safe overall? how long is the recovery process?
Question : After doing lasik, if your job is desk bound(facing PC everyday) , is it ok ?
Currently doing desk bound after the surgeny, does not find any issue with it, juz need to constantly apply the eye drop, the doctor prescripted. Already went for the after 1 week review
There is actually some info on the clearvision site.

Recovery takes about 3 to 5 days. Do not expect FULL recovery. I would expect the epithelium to fully close up but it does not mean FULL recovery.
I am not to familiar with tran epilasik but I believe it's a relatively new procedure. I am not saying its good or not good, the issue with mew procedures it that there are lesser case studies and there may be unknown factors. Eg, Epi-lasik was newer than Lasik and thought to be better initially. But after some time, doctors relies that Lasek was actually better and safer.
I'll just share my limited experience as of now.
I did experience lesser tear production in the first few days after surgery. There is definitely less tears when I yawn. A couple of days later, it's back to normal.
My sis who had Epi years ago commented that she had far less complications like dry eyes compared to her friends who had normal lasik. For her, everything was back to normal after about 6 months.
Dr Por did mention that you will get dry eyes initially as the epithelium heals. Even after the first 3 to 5 days of healing, the epithelium is not fully smooth yet. He showed me a picture of my eyes with some dye and there was some spots here and there. Due tot the uneven surface, the eyes cannot hold your tears and will feel dry. Putting eye droops or yawning will give you temporary good vision as the eyes are covered with tears. After, after a few seconds, the tears are drained away as your eyes cannot hold the tears well. Things should be ok after about 1 month.
Just did some googling and it seems like about 70% of tear nerves are severed during normal lasik while epi-lasik does not cur any tear nerves.
thanks!
am curious whether lasek will have similar accuracy of correction as lasik, since lasek's excimer laser work on the bowman layer, whereas lasik's excimer work on the deeper stroma layer.
