Lasik eye Surgery

my short sighted is ard 1000-1100 for both side and astig is ard 400-450 both side also.. izzit possible to do lasik? in long term for me, lasik is a better cost effective measure.. jus did a new specs for my upcoming enlistment and it cost me 300.. the pair of lens already cost me 250.. zzz..

Only the doctor can advise you. But, with degrees so high, lasik may not be able to correct to perfect vision depending on your cornea thickness. If your cornea is thin, you may still be left with about 100 for both eyes.

About Lasik, does anyone experience this? Can such people even consider lasik?

I'm the type whose eyes will close immediately (reflex action, no choice, can't control) when I see something coming towards me. That's why I cannot wear contact lenses. When I want to pop the lenses in, my eyes will shut immediately. I'm thinking, will I be doomed to wear glasses forever?

Anyone who is like me? Is there a solution? Would like to understand from forum members before making that big step (no pun intended) to the clinic.

today i ask Dr Lee, he say can pway computer riao, i still at the waiting area watching CNA reh.

me nose dark side, dark side ish buy durex.

chottohen: the whole thing is 2 hrs but the thing is done within 30min? intralace(cut the flap) ish 30sec 1 side. the wavefront(open flap and laser) also 30sec 1 side. the female nurse will count for chiu.

the one at Paragon has better looking staff if i am not wrong. but you see liao, higher heart beat, higher heart rate, higher blood pressure, your eyes move or what not my business.

Ive have some question regarding the above surgery, i heard from some people that Lasik causes complications as you age? Is that true? Plus, if i were to go for the surgery, does that mean i can watch TV very close, read book in the dark all these doesn affect my vision any more?

No bro, after operatiion if you still abuse your eye, you will still develop myopia...

what time did you go? my op was at tuesday 2:30, saw poor little boy in jacket? haha must be me.

actually i prefer the local girl that evaluate me, not the pinoy lady. then there is a korean/jap staff also, she took me for my meds just b4 the surgery.

the local staff prolly know me best, everytime clean my eyes, put eye drops for me she even SMS after i reached home.

the first part to cut a flap, is the more "painful" onem they suck your eyeball and ZAP!

then you walk to another room and you will see "fireworks" and a miracle happen, you can see!!!

and so after a nites rest, i am finally able to type this Wall of Text with my specs.

Why not? Then I won't have to depend on visual aids anymore. Doc says I'm a perfect candidate for lasik because of my low myopia. Not much cornea needs to be cut.

Ok this is my experience. My doctor cousin recommend me for Lasik to one of his mentors in university. He told me this mentor of his is very experienced and did hundred of lasik surgery before when he was in Singapore Eye Centre. Now the mentor opened his own eye specialist clinic at Paragon – Apple Eye Centre. I visited the clinic to for consultation to check whether I m suitable for lasik. I went through all the tests – eye pressures, cornea thickness check etc. The doctor told me that he do not buy his own lasik machine because he told me that there are many unethical doctors around in this field. If they own their own lasik machine, very likely they will ask u to do it because they have to recoup the fixed cost they have put in. This especially the case even yr cornea issnt suitable for lasik or there is a lower percentage of regaining back to near perfect eyesight (I got a friend who did lasik and still have 100 degree shortsightedness for one eye and perfect for the other.. now she have to wait for the perfect one to go back to 100 -_-). As such, my doctor what he did when a patient need lasik is that he will rent the machine in other clinic and do the operation himself. So basically, I am paying for his lasik experience + renting of the lasik machine.
The day for lasik finally arrived – my doctor rented the operation room for lasik at a eye surgery clinic at Shaw tower. The operation took abt 10-15min or so. My eyes was taped and the outside was somehow “clamped” so that my whole eyes were exposed (kinda disgusting)… antiseptics was dripped. My doctor uses something like a litmus paper to clear away all my tears etc. The whole operation started. There is an assistant who did a countdown. I can feel the burning smell of the laser but cant feel the pain (I was very nervous at that point of time as I only can see a white light). 15min later everything was done, my doctor put a protective contact len on one of my eyes becos the eye is more sensitive and the lens prevent complication and germs from entering.
The first few hours were hectic…. I cant look at the sunlight. My eyes feel very sore… is like a rock in your eye socket… I will recommend just go back home and sleep or something so u wont think about it. The sensation will drop after a while. The first few days I am very sensitive to light (even looking at computer monitor etc). Things get better after a week or so. Up to now (6-8 month later), everything is fine for me… I can look at things very clearly. In conclusion, I am very happy with the operation lol.

anyone done lasik at mount E before ??? i did a eye check up there last year, so planing to do lasik there once my eyesight is so call ready or stabilize after one year. please share your experience if you have done it there b4..

Juz did my lasik at Shinagawa this morning, now everything is clear but typing this on an illuminated monitor screen is a bit hazy.

I can say its totally painless, least the part that Dr. Lee insert the suction cup into my eyes where I feel some pressure on them. As the suction cup is being inserted into the eye I experienced the 'sudden-blackout-fainted' sensation (only for the particular eye) but surprisingly it's good as I cant really see nor feel whats going on with the laser cutting although the doctor says my suctioned eye is opening up good and big.

Will be going for my review tomorrow.
