Just finish my eye assessment at shinagawa. And the result was I’m not suitable for lasik 😭😭 cause astig was very high at 400 for each eye. Was recommended not to do cause doc was afraid it might cause implication to the weaken eye(lots of tissue will be lost). Damn damn sad. But oh well, save $$ and dr Lee was very nice and staff there were very assuring when doing the test.

I did the ICL in 2012 and it’s money well spent.

Care to share more of your ICL experience? :D Like where you did it, how much was your degree before ICL, how much you spent etc. I got rejected for lasik and the doctor recommended me ICL.

I did ICL at eagle eye centre - Julian Theng
SNEC said my cornea too thin and declined me for lasik.
So I researched and found Julian Theng

I spent about 8k for both eyes.
My eye degree 400 plus for one eye and 500 plus the other eye.
Astigmatism about 200 plus
Now everything is perfect.

For the past 6 years I enjoyed my new eyes

Thanks for sharing !! Yea I actually considered Dr Julian as well for lasik but since I can't do lasik maybe I should consider ICL by Dr Julien. How many days leave/mc is required for ICL? Need to plan in advance as it is v difficult to take leave for me :(

Well after every op will have a few days mc.
You need to come back and follow up too.
You might want to consider take half day leave for your evaluation.

I went down for eye evaluation at one of the clinics.
My pupil size was a 3.8mm (this was not measured in a dim room) When i asked the Dr he dismissed it saying that its not a problem at all.
My pupils were dilated on that day and i measured at home was a 7mm.

My concern is that the measured pupillary size is not reflective of what I will have in dim light environments like night driving.

How are your experiences with this at the various LASIK clinics?

My experience at Shinagawa clinic is great.
Anyway i’m post 2 weeks surgery.
Initially I had a problem with night glare esp with street lights , but I think it has greatly improved
When I went for my 1st week review, Dr Lee mentioned that I have dry eyes so I have to put in the gel and eye drops as instructed.

Actually i’m not so sure why you are concerned about the measured pupillary size.
Because that is not the primary factor for LASIK assessment.
Most of the concerns are based on cornea thickness, cornea shape, eye power, eye history
You should let the doctor know about your concern about what you see in dim light conditions.

I think it is very important.
I would want to know for sure the treatment zone is going to be equal or larger than my pupillary size in dim light. I don't want to deal with severe night halos.
I guess majority of people don't really care then.

POST - LASIK SURGERY REVIEW

Undergoing LASIK was the most critical decision I had to make because it concerned my eyesight which I was apprehensive about. I did not undergo LASIK for cosmetic reasons and to risk any complications that might compromise my quality of visual.

Pre- LASIK, I had moderate myopia of about -3.50 to -4.00D with mild astigmatism (<0.75). I wore monthly contact lenses almost every day and had to comply with the laborious care and maintenance of those contact lenses. In addition, I dislike the dry eyes feeling and it is true that contact lenses deprived the cornea of oxygen. Therefore, after sorting out my thoughts, I decided to consult Dr Natasha Lim from Dr Natasha Lim Eye Centre in regards to a suitable treatment to correct my vision. During our one-to-one consultation, she explained the whole LASIK procedure in details and was very meticulous in her work. She displayed confidence and assured me that I am safe in her hands. After consulting her, I managed to defeat my fears that had been lurking at the back of my mind and proceeded to do Bilateral WaveFront-Guided iLASIK on that very same day!

Dr Natasha Lim Eye Centre utilises the most advanced and innovative state-of-the-art technology called iDesign iLASIK WaveScan and the 5th generation iLASIK machine to gently reshape the imperfections of each cornea to correct the vision. With its 100% bladeless wavefront eye mapping technology, the machine lasers precisely according to your own personalised corneal map. This iDesign iLasik is FDA approved and proven to be effective in correcting all types of refractive error (myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism and presbyopia) within a certain range.

Of course, topical anaesthesia was given before the procedure to ensure that I feel nothing. Throughout the whole procedure, there was only a slight feeling of pressure during the corneal flap was created but other than that, I practically felt nothing as the machine's cold laser burns away my ‘degrees’. In reality, the procedure itself was quick, successful and totally pain-free. Any discomfort I felt afterwards was minimal so it really wasn't a concern to me. It was easier and faster than I expected and cheers to going spectacles and contact lenses free! In just 30 minutes or so, I achieved complete vision transformation! I could easily make my own way home and the results were immediate although my eyes felt a little sore right after.

Day 1 Post-LASIK, I can only say I am impressed with the results especially at night. I was back at work the next day and could perform any visual activities well, without affecting my visual quality. Amazingly, I had only experienced slight dryness and achieved clear vision (6/4.5) in just 12 hours post-operative. Haloes were present but it was tolerable. It is incredible how I could now see the defined window grille of the building few blocks away at night which I previously could only see it as blurry lights. The results speak for themselves! I was not used to leaving my house without my glasses or contact lenses because now, I had the same clarity as before when I was using spectacles or contact lenses. It was amusing how I had to constantly remind myself that I had done LASIK and no longer need them. After fifteen years of fiddling around with glasses and contacts that dried my eyes, I have completely broken free from them. Having an avocation for swimming and water activities, I do not have to worry about removing my contact lenses and putting on degree goggles which I used to do. I am so glad I did it because my eyes are no longer dry due to contact lens wear and is no longer a hindrance to my daily life.

Being under the care of Dr Natasha Lim was reassuring as she walked me through the whole procedure. She informed me in advance what to expect and took details in ensuring that I felt at ease. She was professional and conscientious in her work on my eyes, making every effort to guide and advise me the most appropriate treatment for my eyes. Overall, I am thrilled to have undergone iLASIK and would definitely recommend Dr Natasha Lim Eye Centre for anyone who wishes to do LASIK. Don’t let your fears or uncertainties get in your way of achieving superb vision!

hi all, have been following this thread for awhile and would like to share my experience. Would like some advice also esp those who has the same as mine.
Basically I did 3 assessments at 3 different clinics

1) SHINAGAWA. $28
DR Lee told me the test results show irregular cornea shape and advice me it could be due to dry eyes or that I am Borned with irregular cornea. He gave my eye drops to apply and told me to go back 2 weeks later to check again.
2) LSC $1
Dr Marc tay said my results are very good and can do any surgery. Told him about what Dr lee said. He then went through with me my results and said everything is good.
3) Atlas $29
Dr chan said the same as Dr Marc tay.
4) shinagawa $60
Went back 2 weeks later for confirmation as I prefer to do under shinagawa. Dr lee said my cornea test shows the same results as 2 weeks earlier and confirms that it’s due to irregular cornea. He advise not to do any refractive surgery as there is risk of cornea ectasia.

anyone with similar experience of differing views of doctor but still went with the surgery? would need advice :( thanks so much in advance

I did lasik accessibility test at TTSH last month and the doctor told me that was rejected by them because he said I had a higher chance of my cornea distorting after lasik due to my irregular cornea shape.

After 1 month, I called ClearVision to check if there are any other options. Like Epi-Lasik etc..

And since it's only $5 for the suitability test, I went ahead to do it and they said there's nothing wrong with my cornea thickness/curvature. Then I went ahead to do the more in-depth one. They also say nothing wrong, suitable for Epi-Lasik.

Can anyone advise me on what to do?
1 doctor say can, another say cannot.
Now wanna do, also very scared.

Hi Steve, did u go for any surgery in the end? My situation similar to yours..

My lasik story is almost exactly the same as you. I went to atlas and shinagawa. Dr Chan from atlas gave me the green light for both lasik and smile. Dr Lee from shinagawa told me almost the same thing as you + my high degree etc and told me to put eyedrops as well and come back 2 weeks later but ended up rejecting me for lasik.

I chose not to do lasik for the time being.
