Ok so i went to Shinagawa for pre-lasik assessment. Actually you will get $300 off if make in full payment so i dont think having referral will make any difference.

The experience is great, no long wait like Atlas. Dr Lee is quite professional, but i feel his talking is robotic (like he repeats the same thing for over thousands of time). Hopefully he did check thoroughly my results before consulting me.

Anyway, still considering whether to choose lasik or smile.

Seems like not many ppl here actually chose smile. But i saw REALLY GOOD reviews on Atlas page. Not sure if it's paid reviews though.

Please share your experience or thoughts :)

I have a bestie who went through SMILE few years ago (probably 2-3 years), she has no complains and still says it's the best thing she has ever done. Recovery was quick. Thou she forgot which clinc but she paid a 5ish then. She also mentions that this procedure can be done again after 10 years IF any chance your degree comes back, which lasik can't.
Her degree was on the low side so i do not know if i can do this. Mine is about 1k on both eyes and astigmatism 200

I've seen many recommend Shinagawa. Can someone PM me the refferal too?

I'm still considering which to go although i hope to choose SMILE due to my bestie's amazing results and low downtime, i would still go for a few consultations before i decide.

Did Dr. Lee reject you outright? Otherwise, fret not.

From 1st assessment, the results showed that I had both corneal and lenticular astigmatism. Dr. Lee suspected it can be due to my eye dryness that cause the irregularity. Hence I was asked to apply eye drop every 3hr daily for 3 weeks until the next visit.

On 2nd assessment, there was improvement to the axis of both astigmatism. Dr. Lee concluded the previous result was due to eye dryness and thus gave the green light to proceed with Intralase Lasik. Was told to keep applying eye drops until the surgery day as I had some mild dryness.

After the lasik, I had red bruise on the eye whites due to the pressure caused by the suction ring. This will go away in 2~3 weeks time. Dr. Lee also inserted bandage contact lenses to secure the position of the flap during the op. Regained about ~80% vision immediately.

By the next morning, it went up to 95% as I still had the bandage lenses on but reading vision was already 6/6. After the lenses removal, 100% clear vision! Other than occasional mild blurry due to dryness, I did not experience any halo or starburst. No problem looking at computer or handphone. Not so sensitive to bright lights either. :s22:

I did mine with Dr Lee in Dec at Shinagawa .
He is a very nice and patient Dr.
The people there nice and polite also.
Till now still 6/4.5. Hopefully can remain like this all the way. hahaha

Just that I need to put more eye drops than usual and buy that $90 eyedrop because my eyes are more to the dry side.

The whole thing is costly la, but no regrets.

Hi thanks for sharing.

Yes Dr Lee advised not to do lasik in my case. As my lenticular astigmatism on left eye is more than 100 degrees. Even if do lasik, vision will still be blur

Hi. I have had my LASIK surgery more than 4 years ago using the Relex Smile method, and so far I have not experienced any dryness post-surgery.

May I suggest that u also try taking supplements such as Vitamin A and also Lutein ? Currently I am taking Vitamin A (10,000 IU), Lutein (20mg) which are vitamins that are also essential for eye health.

Hope this helps. ^^

Hi,

Where did you do the Relex Smile lasik and how much did it cost? What was your degree then?

Thank you.

Any idea what is the threshold before they recommend collagen cross-linking? :s11:

to put it very bluntly and factfully, cross-linking is actually usually done only for people who have keratoconus ( can google that ).
the reason why they do it after the surgery is because your cornea is weakened. In fact, they will offer to do it if they think you can afford it. In reality, there isn't a threshold. You decide if you want it, if you want it, the doctor can proceed to do it. Doctor usually recommend on the safe side. But every doctor is different and have diff level of threshold.
