I guess you guys don't know that once eyes have been through lasik, can't wear contact lens anymore especially when there is a regress. Also, when time to do cataract op, there would be problems too? Check with your doc on all these inherent problems before you consider doing lasik.

Unless you belong to the very high myopia group, think carefully before you do lasik. I have undergone lasik in Year 2000 and if I can turn back the clock, I won't have done it. Other than you need not wear glasses, the cons outweigh the pros.

I am also wondering how accurate is the optometrists in LASIK centre in their refraction test.
Just to share I notice they tend to keep their prescription to below 100 degrees for sphere and cylo measurements for post lasik refraction test. I am a LASIK patient and the difference between these measurements and my outside optometrists differs by 25 to 50 degrees. i understand enhancement surgeries is valid for under or over correction of more than 100 degrees.(correct me if i am wrong) Is it their vested interest to maintain their statistics of success rate? or to admit more new patients than enhancement patients for surgeons with "patient pay first, enhance later" mentality evident in some experiences share by some forumers.
Also looking at their refraction test, i am not sure if they meet the requirement of 6m for their refractive test using snellen chart. it is different from optical shops.
these are just some of my thoughts.

I done mine 8 years ago in JB. But 2 years ago, my myopia is back and with age, i even had 'lau wah'. So, last year i went for an eye check and had a second lasik done for both eyes. Its been a year, so far so good.
It is not true. There are special lenses for irregular shaped cornea. It cost more than those off-the-shelf ones.
What i would suggest is to understand your cornea thickness. Strictly speaking, i've done 3 times of lasik. Once 8 year back and twice last year uponwhich the last one was an enhancement. Even with that, my cornea thickness is still thickn enough (i think it read like 0.6 or something, check with your doc what is considered thick cornea for lasik).
Problem for cataract? I dont think there is any shaving of cornea for cataract lens placement, so what problem do you mean?
Of course, lasik is a form of operation and it carries a certain risk. Myopia will regress if you dont take care your eyes after the op. But seriously, all my friends and family who did it think this is the best decision we've ever made.

You need to make an appt with the clinic to have your eyes checked. My advise is to go to more reputable lasik center. There are a few in Candem Medical Center who are pioneer in this field.
They will dilate your pupil to determine your degree and cornea thickness. Uponwhich, they will advise which process is best suitable for you. In my opinion, if they say your cornea is thick enough for lasik, ask them how thick is it? Check with them if regress and correction required, can you go for further lasik? ie. your cornea must be thick enough for say second or third round of correction.

Epilasik is a newer technology than Lasik.
Patients in the past who were rejected from Lasik because their cornea are too thin, now can do Epilasik.
There is no cutting of a flap on the cornea, just a removal of a tissue (epithelium) on the cornea surface. A lower risk surgery.
However, the downside is - you dont regain the perfect vision immediately (like lasik does), your vision will gradually get better. And it takes about 1 month to fully recover for some people.
I just did epilasik. Let me know if you need me to share more about my experience.

Epilasik scrapes away both the epithelium and bowman layer to expose the corneal stroma which is then lasiked. Ask the Dr to apply Mytomycin C over the lasiked area if your degree was high, this will reduce the chances of scarring which is higher in Epilasik than Lasik.
After that, the Dr will put a special contact lens over it for up to 3 days. If I remember correctly, you will also be prescribed cortisteroid eyedrops and anti-inflammatory eyedrops to apply for 1 month. They will slow your healing while preventing infection. Slow healing is important because fast healing will have higher chances of forming scar tissue, so be vigilant and follow the dosing instructions.
After that, the Dr will put a special contact lens over it for up to 3 days.
