Whats the price now? i looking to do it while in ns
Am going to do my lasik at Eagle Eye Centre. They have a referral program. I need to tell them the name of the referrer who had his / her lasik done at the centre.
Any kind soul who did their lasik at Eagle Eye Centre willing to be my referrer? Trying to save some money.
Kindly PM me. Many thanks in advance
if age is mid 30, still worth to go for lasik or nt because presbyopia may kick in around late 30s or early 40s and lasik cannot cure this. In the end still have to rely on glasses to read
Some clinics do have those lasik machines that can help you to correct near reading at the same time. But it is going to be very costly.
However, do bear in mind that when you reach 50s, most people will require cataract surgery. If you are going for lasik surgery, i suggest that you asked the eye doctor for a copy of the pre-lasik measurements e.g. corneal curvature, refractive errors etc. Why? Because your future cataract surgeon might need those information when you are going for your cataract surgery.
Hi,
I just did ReLEX Smile Surgery 10 days back at LSC By Dr. Eugene Tay.
Its is 10 days already and I have still yet to get my perfect far vision yet as its still not very clear. Worst thing is I cant see near now. I used to have perfect near sightness. I am having not very clear vision as I type this message to you all.
Is it common to have blurred vision for near sightness after myopia RELEX SMILE.
Please advice. Thanks.
Anyway, just to describe the "bladeless" lasik procedure in EEC for those who are interested. Huge WOT below....
Opt for the 1 day assessment and op with Dr Julian Theng ( glad I'm able to secure it within 2 weeks coz normally he has a long waiting list, and heard he only do lasik ops on Thursdays ).
Went to Mt Alvernia branch in the morning for the lasik assessments. Clinic seems quite busy coz still gotta wait for more than 30mins on top of the scheduled time.
1st they used some machine to check ur degree, then another machine to blow air into your eyes ( I think to check for eye pressure ). Wait again for 5-10mins, then called in to check on the degree using the normal way of reading letters off the wall to check on degree again. Mine is myopia 500 degrees right, 450 deg left and 250 deg astigmatism for both eyes. At the end of this time, the optometrist will put some eye drops to dilate your pupils.
Out in the lobby to wait again, but with your pupils dilated, near objects became blurry and eyes also very sensitive to light and glare. After abt 10mins, called in again by another optometrist to do the reading off the wall eye check again ( with pupils dilated ). This time, the optometrist indicated that one of the eye dropped by 50 deg and another by 25 deg ( can't rem L/R ), but he mentioned that it's normal.
Out in the lobby again to wait. After about 10mins, called in again to check on cornea thickness and cornea topography, using 2 machines ( one showing spinning rectangle and another with spiral lights ).
Then out again to wait. Not long, a counsellor will call u in to explain the various lasik options/process/risks etc and whether my eyes are suitable. Told her I already read up alot on lasik so can skip alot of stuffs. She mentioned my eyes are suitable for bladeless lasik, with relatively thick corneas of around 580um. However, for the right eye, there's some irregular curvature on the cornea and may need corneal collagen crosslinking to strengthen it. Gotta wait for the doc's actual assessment though. This time round, provided a form to sign ( to indicate I understand the procedure and risks etc ).
Final wait is to see the man-in-action, Dr Julian. After about 10-15mins, got called in. Very nice and friendly chap. Read the data and checked my eyes again. Informed me that my eyes are suitable for the bladeless lasik, and as for the right eye, not necessary for corneal crosslinking, coz can always do it later if really needed. Also informed him that my right eye cannot turn to the right and asked him whether this will affect the surgery. Finally I know what is the official English medical name for my right eye condition when he mentioned that it is called Duane Syndrome ( I only know the Canto "Tao Kai Ngan", literally meaning cock-eye LOL ), and this will not affect the surgery. Glad to hear it.
Told me to come back in the afternoon at 3.30pm for the op. Went off, but need to pay 1st ($256) for the assessment, which will be offset when paying for the surgery in the afternoon. Whole assessment takes around 2 hours. Since still got 3+ more hours before the op, decided to go home 1st to makan and bath. Btw, with pupils dilated from the eye drop, there will be a strong glare from the afternoon sun, so do bring along a shade.
Makan and lobo at home for 3 hours before going back for the op. At the counter, u will have to pay 1st LOL, but this time, they will offset the assessment charges and also I have a referral discount of $200, so pay around $3200+ in total. They will provide u a yellow bag with the various eye drops ( 1 steroid/anti-inflammatory and 1 antibiotic eye drop and 2 packs of lubricating eye drops ), protective goggles for sleep, complementary EEC sun shades, instructions on what to do after the op and also set the appt for 1 day, 1 week and 1month+ review with the doc post-op. Also given some tablets to chew and swallow.
Then wait again. Dr Julian was doing multiple lasik ops that afternoon, so it was like a production line waiting for your turn LOL. Finally got called in, put on surgical gown and cap and the assistant then clean and disinfect your eyes, and put numbing eye drops. While waiting, can also hear Dr Julian doing the op for the person before me next door haha ( ie he will countdown the procedure ).
Finally my turn. Greeted by Dr Julian and led into a dentist-like chair. Confirm NRIC number. He added more numbing eye drops. Proceed with right eye 1st. He put something like a tape around my eyes. Told me to look right ( I guess to facilitate the taping ), but I reminded him that my right eye cannot move right. Haha, he apologised and proceeded accordingly. He will go through each step, and the 1st step is the cutting the flap with laser. There's some device that will "clamp" up your eyes ( I guess to prevent you from blinking ), and was told to stare ahead. When the flap cutting process start, your eye will "black" out, and the doc will countdown for u, I think around 10-15 secs. This step actually dun have the infamous "chao ta" burnt smell. Once done, I think he open up the flap. Can see but very blurry with alot of funky spots of red and green lights.
Next step is actually the excimer laser to shape the cornea. He will also countdown ( think also around 10 to 15 secs ), and was told to stare ahead on the red lights. It's a blast full of funky red and green spots of lights like a disco, and this time round, u can smell the infamous "chao ta" BBQ LOL. After it's done, he closed the flap and wash and put on the bandage contact lens. Then proceed with the left eye.
The whole process is painless. The only feeling is some pressure which is primarily from the clamp that hold your eyes, and of course, smelling the chao ta smell.
When the op is done, he asked whether I can see the Eagle Eye logo on the ceiling ( yes haha ) and also tell him the time on the clock ( yah, can also ). While vision is not exactly sharp, ie hazy, foggy and blurry, it is still much better as compared to me without glasses. I think also part of their SOP when u sit up to take a photo with the doc hahah.
So off I go. Vision is good enough for me to take bus home. No pain. Followed the eye drops procedure ( ie steroid and antibiotic once every 3 hours ) and lubricating eye drops whenever needed. At night, will see starbursts from light sources, but that's normal. Had to wear the protective goggles for sleep ( to prevent u from accidentally rubbing your eyes ). Sleep through the night.
By next morning, vision is already better as compared to right after the op. Not 100% as compared to before ops with specs, but gradually improving.
Went for the 1 day post-op review with Dr Julian at their Novena branch. PS, their Mt Alvernia branch ( where I do my op ) is bigger and with more and spacious seats at the waiting area. Did a reading off the wall eye check, vision still cannot see the smallest row, but that is normal and doc mentioned that my eyes are doing OK and actually 6/6 even though it's still blurry.Took off the bandage lens and vision improved as well. Was provided with even more freebies, ie the framed photo with the doc during and after op and his autographed book on Presbyopia.
Now on my 3rd day, vision slightly better than yesterday. Hope this goes well til final clear 6/6 vision, which may take weeks.
