Congrats to Iran. With 3 more matches to be played for all the 6 teams involved in this group, Iran have officially secured the top-2 automatic spot after their hard fought 1-0 victory last night. They now become the first Asian country to qualify for this year's World Cup in Qatar through the qualifying rounds.

what counts is the performance in the actual tournament.

Korea should be fine to wrap up 2nd place to auto-qualify.

the remaining teams in Group A still have a fighting chance to get a shot at the AFC playoff agst a fellow 3rd place team from Group B

----> one-off tie instead of 2-legged

then they still have to playoff agst the team that is 5th in South America zone (by current ranking Colombia)

Last time the Asia 3rd place gets to playoff against Oceania team, most of the time was New Zealand, so it was easy. But lately FIFA change the format and the Asia 3rd place gets to playoff against South America team, and most likely is very difficult due to their superiority.
