are u currently learning the language? if so, which level are you at? you can go to topik website to download the past year papers and use it in your preparation. you might also want to buy this reference book "Korean Grammar in use Beginner" from gmarket. i find it quite useful.

I just finished basic level 2 at a korean learning centre (Ezsam). They use Sogang textbook. Basically i am still very much a beginner in this language.

I am okay with the most basic of grammar but i think there is much more i have to learn for beginner topik. I will definitely order this book too.. heard a few recommendations for this book. Thanks!

u start learning from scratch now? or already been learning? I found the paper on the easy side, but I do attend regular classes, and did a number of past year papers before sitting for it.

I don't have it, but from some of the pages I've seen, it looks quite good. there are mock tests, practice questions and all explained quite clearly in english. Required vocab lists for Basic level also provided.

I don't see any content/explanation for verb conjugation or grammar pattern though, so that might be a problem.

I took some lessons at a a language centre but i am still at basic level. I figured preparing for topik test itself would still require a lot of self study even if i do go for lessons.Right now im still pretty much a beginner but at least i have the basic foundation for this language from my lessons.
I will definitely check out your book... i think i saw this book in orchard kinokuniya before.

Thanks!

Just started my first basic lesson this morning at Ezsam! Pace was just nice but definitely need to spend time on doing homework and revising before next lesson.

What I like about this school is that they have 3 lessons a week and students have the flexibility to switch class if they cannot make it for their original scheduled lesson. Have to inform the school in advance though.

From my experience of learning Korean for 2 years already (not 1st-hand experience with this tuition), not supporting this as learning the grammar will be far more useful.
Knowing grammar allows you to self-explore better (I got surprised when I was able to translate parts of a song just by looking at the lyrics/listening)
Of course there are those special expression where you need to learn it as it is.

Daehan Korean Language Centre

Definitely try Daehan Korean Language Centre!
Have been taking lessons there since Basic Level 1 and am now at Intermediate. The pace is manageable and the classes are very interesting. There are many students there who live in the West but still travel to the centre (located very conveniently just opposite Kembangan MRT) Suggest you make a trip down because you can consult with them personally on the kind of courses that suit your budget and level..

The staff there were very patient and friendly. Many of my friends have also been taking lessons there for a long time.
