hi guys,

i've got some questions here. din wanna start a thread, so i thought this might be the place to ask.

i'm thinking of taking up japanese, with no background or foundations. My aim will be to attain at least JLPT 2.

after seeing some thread which says JLPT 4 is like super easy and Ikoma's webby, basing it on Ikoma lvl of advancements, what is the minimum lvl (eg. Intermediate,Advanced etc) will i be able "jump" onto JLPT 3 prep class and go for the exam?

o... well one of the staff took only pre-ad and ad before taking jlpt2 without the prep course so thought it equated but i guess you probably phrased it better than i did. I did it the other way round, took pre-ad and prep together, now taking advance. so far, what i have covered is almost the same as i did in prep course but at a slower pace and with more interaction. won't be as stressed as prep course due to the lack of the many kanji tests, and 赤点 from all the initial mock tests. =:p guess it depends on your priority, if cert is the priority then go for prep but if you got time and want a holistic approach, pre-ad + ad would be good.

I think prep can also be meant for people who wants to study Japanese to read novel and play games also.
Its reading intensive after all...

ask u ah, after Basic class, will be the sensei be the same for intermediate class in IKOMA? :D

I think so. My current int class had the same sensei for basic, because they carried on as a class. Anyone taught by moriyama sensei before?

depends on the seniority of the sensei. cause like my sensei, who just came over from japan 2 ago(the basic class i was in was her very first class), told us that she could only take us to at most intermediate, after which another senpai will be taking over. she mentioned that ikoma does this so as to not put a heavy responsibility on a new teacher who is still learning the ropes. my sensei was naito sensei then but i dropped out before i reached intermediate cause of army...

In my case, i practically changed to a new teacher everytime the wording of my course title changed. But getting to know many of the teachers at Ikoma does have its good points.=:p Though it is also possible that your teacher can stay with you for quite some time provided the teacher is senior enough.

that means the new sensei usually teach till till the end of the intermediate class....
