i wish to take up japanese language and get some sort of certification and i would like to ask which school would you recommend for someone who wish to learn japanese to get into a job that requires speaking jap. i think certification in this aspect is important as it has to be recognise in some ways.

There's a website Kansai-ben: Kansai Dialect Self-study Site
Interesting but very different from the standard Japanese we learn in the classroom!

There are many different japanese language schools in Singapore. Bunka, Ikoma, JCS, etc. It depends on what type of learning style you have and your budget.

International certification would be the Japanese Language Proficiency Test(JLPT) which has five levels. Everything is MCQ. Take from N5, which is the easiest, to N1, which is the hardest.
Beyond JLPT, there is the Business Japanese Test(BJT).

may i check for the JLPT, is it offered as a test in some school or? cause from what i see, the school has their own certification and internal test if i am not wrong like Bunka which i am seriously considering.

what is the different between taking the school internal test or taking JLPT?

JLPT is offered worldwide twice a year. It is held on the Sunday of the first week of the month in July and in December.
The certificate is recognised internationally, by any school or company in the world. Japanese companies usually ask for N2/N1 holders.
In Singapore, the JLPT is organised by the Japanese Cultural Society; and the venue is at SMU.

A language school's internal test is just that, internal. The school cert may not be recognised by companies. No matter how many certs you receive from whatever japanese language school, you'd still definitely want to take JLPT(unless you have BJT perhaps)

i personally think schools that use old/new Minna no Nihongo (Hougang Japanese Language Schools/Ikoma, NUS Extensions) are better schools to get a well rounded learning.

Does anyone have an app recommendation (preferably free) for learning higher level kanji for the 漢検? Right now I'm using 漢検プチドリル in my electronic dictionary, but it's a bit heavy to carry around for convenient studying.

I know you can get a DS and the 漢検 prep game, but financially it's out of the question for now...

Bunka doesn't use minna no nihongo ?

Anyway does anyone know Ikoma Intermediate 2 which is split into 2 Terms means what? Meaning must pay for both terms to complete Intermediate 2 ?

If I just want to start straight into Minna no nihongo 2-2 , which level / term i should go into ?

Bunka uses their own book. If you wanna jump schools, very hard to bridge.

When u go into Ikoma, u do their placement test, they will advise u. Just a note, pls don't introduce urself using 「わたしは~です」

At Ikoma, we were taught chapter 30 when we started Term I-2 for the twice a week class. The once a week class will take double the time.

It's more like you have to pass the placement test before they provide the schedule for the Intermediate classes but you can ask them to email you the schedule so you can more or less know the time slots. Anyway, most likely, you will join an existing class. There are four terms for each level, I-1, I-2, II-1 and II-2.

if one got a few committments other than learning jap, then twice a wk class might be too xiong =/
