Why can't they inlcude an oral section for JLPT?

Not enough human resources and hard to judge I think. Cos some Japanese may mark more strictly then others. Especially in some countries...

I will be going for an interview for a Japanese Engineering company next week. It will be conducted in Japanese by Japanese interviewers. Feeling stressed now since it was my first time (I had a jlpt n1 btw).

Any tips from ppl who had went through Japanese Interviews?

Go search online on 面接 techniques. Things like 志望動機、etc.. read up on the company info, etc. Its v different from normal interview. Even if u prepare, there will still be funny questions. Good luck and enjoy the interview..

btw, I used to conduct such interviews. Rejected 20 JLPT 1 holders cos they cannot hold their speech in Keigo

Thanks. Haha maybe you are too strict. Maybe the job scope requires the applicant to speak to Japanese clients.

I think it is good enough for me if I can answer fluently in normal Japanese. Thinking and answering in Japanese is hard enough, let alone keigo.

Japanese interviewers are quite different from Singaporeans. For Singaporeans, many questions will be like "what can you do for our company", "what do you think you will be 5 years later", this sort of questions.
For Japanese, more will be like chatting, coz they wanna know more about you and your character thru the chat. often, they will ask you to start with 自己紹介.

but i think one common question from everyone is "what are your strength/weaknesses"

You are right! They ask me what I do during my weekend. What kind of friends you have? They ask me if I am willing to spend 10 years working in japan if i am given the chance. And they ask me why i learn japanese in Singapore.

Any JCS seniors in here?

I'd like to find out which sensei is better : 1) Chua Sensei or 2) Tamura Hiromi sensei.

I have to register for my Advanced Class next week and couldnt make up my mind on which sensei to go for.

Appreciate any kind feedbacks and ocmments.

Interesting but very different from the standard Japanese we learn in the classroom!



There are many different japanese language schools in Singapore. Bunka, Ikoma, JCS, etc. It depends on what type of learning style you have and your budget.

International certification would be the Japanese Language Proficiency Test(JLPT) which has five levels. Everything is MCQ. Take from N5, which is the easiest, to N1, which is the hardest.
Beyond JLPT, there is the Business Japanese Test(BJT).
