Has anyone tried JOI Learn Japanese Online? If yes, please recommend a teacher for N3 level, preferably one who is good at teaching conversation.

Janetsk, how's your experience with them? I think online is a good way for conversation mastery..

Hi guys, I'm thinking of going for intensive beginner course in Ikoma. Mon - Fri (every weekdays lesson) as I have free time. Do you think it's advisable to attend such a crash course?

I can understand sokushi nihingo as I'm always travelling to Japan but not good with writing hiragana/ katagana. I hope to pass N4 by this year.

Appreciate your advice.

I tried out their normal classes as the timing for the conversation class for the level I wanted wasn't good. It was always at 5 a.m. our time. Overall, the experience was good.

You should be able to take N4 this year if you take the full time classes all the way through Intermediate. However, this is subject to the availability of their full time Intermediate classes. Since you have the time now, I would suggest you to work on your Hiragana and Katakana.

it would be very good as you will be exposed to proper japanese everyday. you will learn fast. (just make sure you can cope with the pace)

Aoba has an intensive course too and it uses Minna No Nihongo.

Currently I'm in Ikoma advance class having taking it for 1 year with 1 more year to go and planning to take N2 end of this year.

However I'm currently on the crossroad deciding whether to continue with advance 2 or just ditch it to go take n2 prep course. Taking both is impossible for me cos I don't have the time to juggle bet. the 2 so taking 1 is my only option. I've heard n2 prep is very intensive and more aligned for people who are attempting N2 compared with advance course.

Ditching advance seems like a waste with 1 more year to go, so really now in a dilemma on which path to go. Anybody can give advise?

My opinion is to take advance. Prep course is a rush through course to help people pass JLPT. You can still pass N2 after you go through the advance course and self study yourself.

I think it really depends on what u want. Do u like the slow going thru of lesson? Or fast fast finish JLPT.

I've decided to stay on with advance path instead of going to the prep after consulting with the Ikoma people with regards to the prep course structure. It seems too intense and rush, furthermore it's grueling and no focus on conversion which imo is important in learning a language. I prefer a well rounded learning experience rather than achieving a n2 cert w/o the skill to converse properly.

JCS elementary classes also change textbook to Minna no Nihongo. I saw people holding it.

I've studied 1st part of Minna no Nihongo (chap 1-13) around 4 years ago and since then stopped learning any Japanese. Recently I would like to resume my learning on Japanese at Ikoma. Knowing that there's a placement test, but also knowing that Ikoma's beginner course consists of both parts of Minna no Nihongo 1st book, I'm wondering if there's a possibility that a placement test can put me on a start from the 2nd part of the book rather than starting from fresh. Anyone has such experience? Also, if I were to take the placement test knowing that I can only answer those related to the 1st part of 1st book, anyone know how the placement test will look like (or any tips?). Thanks.

Nope. Don't think so. Can u still remember the difference between で n に？or how to say the dates of the month?

most likely if u don't revise ur work, it will be hard to pass the placement test.
