My gf just sign up at bunka last week with her colleagues.

$200+ elementary 1

To be exact, it is shown on the webby as $220 but its total fees for 8 courses is = $220+$20(textbook)+$20(GST). so end up $260. I juz went yster to bunka, 31 aug class is already full, can u believe it? its 2 months away!

bunka's weekend classes are often full and usually have long waiting times. if you can afford the time, go for weekday night classes instead

Both are using about the same textbooks. I would say both have their good and bad. You should look at their websites/go down to talk to the teachers.

dimitri, can you briefly describe the pros and cons for each school? the more i look at their website, the more i'm confused as in which to choose... Thanks alot!

what is the main reason chiu all wan to learn a new language ?

Hmm, sorry. Not in the position to say...

The syllabus are about the same,cos the books they use are sister publications.

Like i say, you should go down to the schools to take a look and decide for urself.

yeah..i jus booked a place with ikoma basic 1 course..i am really looking forward to it!hope have great fun in their classes~

jus wanna ask in terms of flexibility, means to say if I cant make it for the timing of the class which I register, can I attend other time slots of the new classes? Is there no limit to how many times I wanna make replacement of lessons? Hee.. i called and bunka says there are onli 2 replacements for every 8 lessons.. so i wonder if Ikoma also has such policy??

For me,

Firstly its interest... I began when my friend's brother who works as a translator was saying "Hey, this part the anime translate wrongly"

Secondly, its interface... With better / higher proficiency, i can talk 2 my Japanese friends / penpals easier...

Thirdly... I can watch Dramas / Anime / shows and listen J-rock all these with decreasing aid of Japanese translation...

For me... i worked in a jap company long time ago, and was since mesmerized by the language, it's sounds very nice too me... the prounciation....the tone... the characters looks really cute... and colleagues would teach me some simple expression and i find it really an interesting language.... So really hope to pick up the language... though i already left the jap company... the interest of the language stays...

can someone recommend some self study books for jlpt 2?

i plan on getting one book for each section....

i was thinking of getting 完全マスター2級 日本語能力試験文法問題対策 for grammar

and 実力アップ!日本語能力試験2級 読解編 for reading comprehension....

a friend who just came back from japan recommended 日本語能力試験に出る漢字2級 for kanji learning... seems like its used in ikoma's jlpt 2 prep class or so i was told...

no idea what to get for listening though...

I've been studying full time at ikoma since November last year and i must say that the past 8 months have become a very memorable part of my life...having met so many nice people and nice senseis at ikoma....i conclude that i made the right decision in choosing ikoma...

if only i don't have to start uni next month...haha....or i would study full time all the way...changing to part time soon

err....does anyone know if it is possible to study japanese during the first semester for nus freshmen?

yupp..it's possible but u have to bid for it la and try to squeeze 7 hrs of jap lessons in ur timetable
