jellybeanx, u studying japanese there?
The lady told me that they have kaiwa, reading and JLPT 2 grammar for intermediate and practical grammar for everyday use. Is that true?

I am thinking if above is true, this school is suitable if the teachers are ok.

Thanks for telling me the title of the book. But is it the same as shin nihongo no kiso? appreciate if a link or image of the book can be provided.
I want to check it out.

And Hougang language school, are their intermediate classes good? Because i always thought they are best for elementary studies.

I am really looking for alternatives (read: cheaper schools) as Ikoma is bleeding me dry.

It's the follow-up book for Shin nihongo no kiso.

You can see it as Hougang is about the same as Ikoma.
Intermediate 1:21-30 of "Minna no Nihongo" (Sister publication)
Intermediate 2:31-40 of "Minna no Nihongo" (Sister publication)

I think it's quite alright la... =)

at pyaess? yep. for jlpt 2 classes, they have the normal stuff. haha. but i find that the convo part is not sufficient. thinking of joining the pure convo classes. when's the next jlpt 2 (intermediate) class starting in pyaess? cuz i stopped halfway(got exams), so i was thinking of recommencing during dec.

but i seriously miss the days studying elementary japanese at inoue... ):

p.s. oops, this is my brother's account. haha. i'm jellybeanx.

hmmm, Pyaess seems to be using the same text as Ikoma's Pre Advance. Ditmitri, thank you for the link. I don't know if Hougang is good for intermediate level (studies after minna no nihongo Lesson 50) still trying to find out.

I think its so good to be a student. There are many students in my class. As they are using their parents' money instead of their own, they are not as cost conscious as me who's paying my whole way though haha ^_^"

jellybeanx, u should call the school and ask the lady when their class for intermediate 2 is starting. she told me that there will be new class in Jan 08 but i don't know which level you stopped at within intermediate 2.

Hi surfuz, Hougang Syllabus is like this

Beginner 1-Intermediate 1: JLPT 4
Intermediate 1-Advance 1: JLPT 3

For JLPT 2: Hougang no textbook one... Straight away bring u to topic... Train your reading, vocab, grammer,listening... Shiok right?

Yesterday, I was taking a mock exam.

The mock exam I was taking was actually Year 2002 JLPT 4 exam paper.

There was this question:

A: 「たなかせんせい は どの かた です か。」

B: 「_____________。」

1。 あの めがね の かた です。
2。 とても しずかな かた です。
3。 にほんご を おしえる せんせい です。
4。 あれは たなか せんせい です。

I kept thinking for the appropriate answer & finally think the answer might be either 1 or 4. But, the more I think, the more I find that both answers might be correct.

In the end, I put the answer as "1". The reason is that the question have どの....... So, I believe the answer should have あの / その/ この.......

However, I do not know whether my thinking is right or wrong. So, I need some advice. If I am wrong, can point out my mistake?

Thanks.

Straightaway bring u to topic? don't really understand this part. They use real life materials? Newspapers or ...?

Me really not sure which school to continue. It's becoming a headache, thinking i have to "investigate" so many schools by making trips down there personally.

jlpt 3 textbook prep

Are the materials from minna no nihongo texts 1-1 to 2-2 alone enough to take jlpt3 comfortably?

These 4 books from Minna no Nihongo

1-1 (Red)
1-2 (Blue)
2-1 (Green)
2-2 (Yellow)

1-1 and 1-2 for JLPT 4, 1-1,1-2,2-1,2-2 for JLPT 3
