JLPT 1 is not redundant. If you plan to be a teacher or translator then JLPT 1 is the minimum. Otherwise most Japanese speaking jobs require JLPT 2 only. So if you plan to take JLPT 1 without any of these objective then it would be for bragging rights. But seriously if you have JLPT 1 and no skills to show for it then you will only put yourself to shame. I know someone with JLPT 2 who is very fluent in speaking Japanese and yet he never did manage to pass JLPT 1.

Oh, at first I thought for a translator, a minimum JLPT 2 would suffice.

I see, that make sense, to be in a teaching career and to teach in that native language itself.

Anyway, I think I do realize that JLPT 1 is another huge leap from JLPT 2. So it's really understandable if that person you knew, didn't make it the first try.

Well, I guess if it's for personal achievement, then it's not so bad if that person doesn't brag about it.
Just earn that certificate, frame it and hang it on the wall or something. Feel good about it and that's it.

I would like to know, if I have finished studying Minna No Nihongo book 1(both 1-1 & 1-2), which level should I proceed if I want to study in Ikoma? What book are they using? Yes. They are using Minna no Nihongo.

After Minna no Nihongo 1-1 and 1-2, you'll proceed to Intermediate. Intermediate uses Minna no Nihongo 2-1 and 2-2.

ah keong shd be able to advise you on the chapters.

You can do a level check with the teacher first to see where u can fit in.

For that kind of price, you shd expect that kind of good materials and teaching. =)

From you stating of book 1-1 & 1-2, I figured that you have studied until chapt 25.

If it really so, then you will start on chapt 26 of minna no nihongo.....

after minna no nihongo 1 and 2 then you will have completed both basic and intermediate. then it will be shin nihongo chukyuu for pre advance. teaching style from basic to pre advance is very similar with introduction videos vocab list grammar practice and listening. each chapter takes around 2 lessons if i never remember correctly. as you go up the only thing that changes is the amount of vocab you study

It can be adverb or noun.Its special.
If u using it as noun then,たくさんの質問があります。
If u using it as adverb then,質問がたくさんあります。

Of course those who went to Japan to study and come back with JLPT 1 will be very fluent. But there are also those who study Japanese all the way in Spore to JLPT 1 who aren't even fluent in the language. I guess they belong to those who take JLPT just for show.

初めまして。アッファさん....

Since you have studied Minna No Nihongo Elementary 1-1 and 1-2 = IKOMA Basic level,

the next step is studying Minna No Nihongo Intermediate 1-1 and 1-2 = IKOMA Intermediate level...

I am currently studying IKOMA's Basic 1-2 so cant comment much on intermediate class...

IKOMA's Intermediate has 2 terms.... each term has 4 semesters... maybe PingJun can give you more info on intermediate class...

I would advice you to get a placement query in IKOMA if you do not have JLPT4 certification... See you soon in IKOMA!!!!
