Its the same.If you look at the kanji ご飯.
I believe is the same with chinese as with japanese ,rice is part of their staple for meals since the past.
Thats why they end up adding Time + rice to denote breakfast, lunch, dinner.

me start frm Basic 1 term 2...though i have jlpt 4 but the japanese i spoke and wrote still nt up to standard require more practice:)

Last evening was the first time I attended the Basic 1 Term 2's 6th lesson... somewhat lost in the class... maybe it was not such a good idea to "cut" into the class halfway... I didn't know there was a dictation test... didn't know there's listening comprehension portion... a lot of things I didn't know... though I knew the "adjectives" and sentences the teacher was teaching...

Am aiming for JLPT3 end of this year... so doing the twice a week lessons... but I wonder how long can I sustain.. I must be the oldest in my class... the rest looked so young (not even in Uni yet)... maybe 2-3 more working.. but definitely younger than me... omg.

頑張ってくださいよ、jlpt3を受けたいなら。

@dimitri_can: 昨日従業で先生に聞いた、生き物にあるを使う場合はありますかって。

実は生き物にあるを使う場合はあります。先生から聞いた、昔の日本語にあるといるの相違は今のほどそんなにはっきりではなかったそうです。でもあるの意味はいると違います。あるの意味はhaveと似ています。例えば親友があります。それだけです。だんだん使わなくなるそうですけど。

No problem, i am oldest in my Jap class as well. Adults know what they want and usually will persist and do well into JLPT1. Young kids usually fade off after basic. (...とおもいます)

Just watched Detroit Metal City (Movie) today. It's utterly brilliant. I'm beginning to think Matsuyama Kenichi is every manga-to-film director's dream as he can morph into any role that reeks weirdness. For those of you learning Japanese you get to pick up loads of expletive Japanese too :p

because it is FREE (sponsored by my friend heaviliy)!!!

and i didnt touch Jap in 2008 for a year due to my heavy school load so now consider revising....

and IKOMA was recomended by many of my friends....

so its cool to start all over again loh since different schools has different style...

lastly also is my motto in learning which i learnt from my japanese friends the URL theory:
"Unlearn, Learn, Relearn"

so see u in december! JLPT comrade!!!! :D

looks like quite a few fellow ikomas here, i'm also in the basic 2 term 1 now. now learning the て form which is kinda of a killer for me.

just a question, can i skip jlpt4 and attempt jlpt3 cos i am thinking of attempting it this year? based on my pace, i am likely to reach intermediate 1 level by the end of the year. do you think it is enough to attempt jlpt3 or should i wait for another year?

if u feel u r confident for it, go for it! It's just about putting in efforts..

U can also join the jlpt 3's prep class as well .. so that u have lotsa practices and all ur doubts clarified. ..

cheers~
