Nusの日本語モジュールは大変だよ。授業時間も多いし、宿題も多いし。。。

ooo... coool i'm going physics, you? i heard that nus japanese modules are really tough cause i heard for my core modules its like 4 hours of lectures a week already where japanese is like 7 hours and not including tutorials. also because of our other workload it would be hard to set aside time for practice. so yep still thinking cause most likely i would still be continuing with ikoma while in uni

Wow..physics??:s22: actually for japanese mods, there's a total of 7 hours of contact time per week (2 hrs of lecture and 5 hours of tutorials (TA=2hrs,TB=2hrs & TC=1hr). Yupp you really have to planned ur timetable wisely to accommodate these 7 hrs esp if u're doing 6 mods per sem like me :D

Just started Basic 2 Term 1 at Ikoma... getting more and more difficult... getting "lost" in the classes... I am attending the twice a week classes... quite siong for a working adult.... but hope to clear JLPT 3 end of this year.. so still trying very hard to understand what is going on....

Realized that there's a lot of memorization to be done.... normal? Seems that the sensei prefers us to use Hiragana to Kanji... if we write Kanji, we have to add the furigana at the top of the words.... can we write Kanji for the JLPT 3 exam?

bumblebee>> Cuz jlpt uses hiragana more often than its kanji, as its international and caucasians are taking it too. And, they are probably afraid that you may not know the exact hiragana for it like its isshoni not ishouni etcetc.

NUS syllabus kills beginners.

Btw, for those living/lived in Japan, how much did you spend on food and touring around? I'm gonna study in Fukuoka for 2 months. I was thinking $1000 shud be enough? Am I unrealistic? Excludes my accomodation and utility bills of course.

hi!

i attending Basic 2 Term 1 class once a week on saturdays now attending 7th class. Soon i will be going for Basic 2 Term 2 this May...

JLPT 4 require proficiency up to Intermediate 1 Term 1 which is of IKOMA's equivalent.

while JLPT 3 may require up to Intermediate 2 Term 2...

Yup, there is a lot of memorization needed. For a start, don't despair and focus on the grammer part. the vocab part will come in after continuous practise...

Group study is 1 good way for fast learning. so do feel free and form a group from your class and study together! Get to learn faster, know more friends who learn Jap and improve your conversational skills. dimitri_can is a very good speaker and by conversing with him, he point out my mistakes and i learn from my mistakes.

writing kanji (say for my homework) doesn't require furigana. Maybe u can ask ur sensei. Cause mine doesn't require and she encourage me to write in kanji.

JLPT 3 is the same as JLPT 4 which require shading ovals for your selected answers... :D

There are a lot of senpais and experts here.... dimitri_can is one of the very good experts here in HWZ and can provide you very good advice, guidance and direction... :D

よろしく :D

yah, 2 a certain extent... I think its a good syllubus for japanese learners but on the other hand I am afraid that it may kill the interest of the learners...

I once stayed in Japan spanning across 3 months (touring Sapporo, Kobe, Yokohama)and i was sponsored $6K, this exclude accomodation and utility bills as I was staying with a host family 7 years ago... (but i bought a lot of stuff...) :D

so $1K maybe is ok for now since now recession so they may have special offers.... :D

Thanks for your encouragement... just wondering if anyone is also facing problems with the ni, wo, ga, de, no (the particles)? I am not sure when to use the correct one... then I also have problems with the donna, dou****e, dou, douno, doko... dunno when to use the right one.... seems confusing to me....
