Haha depends on ur spending...(And subjected to the unfavourable exchange rate)
Anyway my expenditure PER month is:

Programme fees for Daily Conversation (incl/ textbk, activity fees) 52,000yen
Housing fee (Registration) 10,000yen (Shared School Dormitory) 17,000yen (Utility) 7,500
Transport fees 900yen per DAY (from the ohashi branch to ogori city. there r 2 branches.)
Meals ????? (Dunno what I will end up eating)
Air fare + tax (Cheapest I saw for 30days) ard SGD300++ by China Eastern

Of course if you take other courses, and stay in other places, it will be more exp. i took the cheapest one alr.

And beware of China Eastern transit at Shanghai. Need to identify your baggage to be sent onto the plane and need to find your own way for transit.

Think can survive.

PS But I think you should try to learn what you can learn in Singapore first, then put ur knowledge to practice over there. If you are earning a salary, then its good to jumpstart your Japanese there, and go there again the next time again to really practise.

True... I feel like going there to learn once I got the chance and get to know more wording etc in Singapore first.

Hey, if one studies instead of touring around in Japan, you don't need a visa right (below 3 months)? Cuz the website says depending on nationality, PURPOSE of stay and period of stay, there may or may not be a visa requirement. Can anyone who studied short term in Japan enlighten me on the purpose part?

Cuz the principal told me I need a visa but I think he may not know that Singaporeans are exempted, since most students are from China and Korea.

If you're opening a bank account for money withdrawal, get Citibank as that's the most ubiquitous foreign bank there. Credit cards aren't used frequently in Japan; many places don't accept credit cards, so cash is your best bet.

As for your other question, no you don't need a visa for short study trips < 3 months. Customs might ask you how long you will be staying there though and there's a possibility you could run into problems so make sure you have your return ticket printed to show them at the airport when you enter the country. Actually you can stay there for longer than 3 months if you want without a visa. The trick is to exit the country and go to Busan, Korea by boat and re-enter -- all in a day's work. :) That's what a lot of foreign students I met there did.

terraj>> Ah! Should avoid yatais then. Maybe try once only. Oh! I was thinking of surviving on buns if I can't find any cheap bentos. 350yen bentos are ok for me. And anyway, I'm now surviving on buns for lunch and sometimes dinner..Actually on top of 2000, I intend to bring a supplementary credit card in case my expenditure is not enough. And now my parents wanna give me more money to set up a bank account so that I can withdraw money. (Though I don't think it will be as convenient as they say.)

Wow..physics??:s22: actually for japanese mods, there's a total of 7 hours of contact time per week (2 hrs of lecture and 5 hours of tutorials (TA=2hrs,TB=2hrs & TC=1hr). Yupp you really have to planned ur timetable wisely to accommodate these 7 hrs esp if u're doing 6 mods per sem like me :D

NUSの日本語クラスはいいですね。 とても楽しいです。
Composition がありません。 でも、Eメール と SMS のかきました。
(NUS's japanese class is very good. Very enjoyable. I did not have any composition however I did wrote email and SMS for homework.)

あのう。。。i think becos of the different せんせい i think i also didn't know TA and TB have different focus.

With the above...is the end result of after learning for 3months plus in NUS. next week is my oral...and almost all my classes have ended by now.

Is quite heavy workload...but is the most enjoying class I ever taken in NUS! haha...とても好きですね。 (like it very much)

However, it is hard to score...many people with background......I worked hard..but not hard enough to qie them yet.^^| hope i can get a B+ for my effort ...LOL
