Hi everyone, I'm new here and you seem like a friendly bunch so I would like some advice if you have time to spare.

I'm currently studying Inter 3 at Bunka with the intention of doing JLPT3 at the end of this year. Unfortunately, I can't make it for Bunka's JLPT3 prep course. It is a 5-month course from Jun to Oct, compared to IKOMA's 6-lesson course in Oct - the extra time being prep for vocab, I suspect.

Since Bunka focuses a lot more on grammar than vocab, would I miss out a lot if I wait till Oct to sign up with Ikoma? I don't want to cram vocab last min just for the exam. However I am not so sure what and where the focus should be if I self-study. Should I sign up with Ikoma for Inter 1/2 to fill in any gaps or wait till their JLPT3 prep class starts in Oct? I would like a really solid foundation and Jap is a hobby I'm willing to invest in so I don't really mind either way.

Does anyone have any experience or advice to share? Thanks in advance.

Ikoma JLPT prep class is good and can be very taxing...but do try Ikoma out... =)

No need to take their Inter 1/2. =)

Hi im from Bunka too. Rather than the vocab, the grammar is the problem. There is still a large part uncovered at the end of Inter-4. But you have a lot of time, so you can buy and study a grammar book (Kanzen master is good.) Vocab wise...I thought it was sufficient. Check your knowledge against the vocab list at the JLPT study page. Jus google it.

by the way, roughly browsed thru this thread, saw the mention of kenkyusha dictionary, which i believe, according to casio's website, is not included in their models.
so, how do i get it? as a add-on? how easily is it buyable? price?

As usual, I would say, don't waste your money getting expensive dictionaries.
Most of the e-dictionaries are made for Japanese studying English. You will not use most of the features.

What we need are J/E, J/J and E/E dictionaries in a set.
At least for me.
