why did u leave out the best way, actually practising it with a native japanese :)
better if that person will correct u and help u with your wrong japanese.
mostly, if they are not close to u, will just accept and cont with the conversation, as long as he/she knows what you are talking about.

i think intonation is more of how to pronounce the words, and not the accent.
eg: はし(箸) と はし(橋)
same hiragana, but diff ways of pronouncing will have different meanings.
just like our 四声 in chinese.

i strongly agreed....
should speak with the sensei more often... :D

There is one more stage... This stage may appear early or appear late after those stages have occurred for those stated above. That is when you start dreaming during your sleep and in your dream you were speaking coherent japanese to another japanese. That is when the brain has already started moving to *unconscious competence* from *conscious competence*. The more frequently this happens to you, the better...

If you have reached this stage, congratulate yourself...But of course more practise is necessary to take you further...

sure or not??

i have been dreaming i was chatting with matsushima nanako with very basic japanese and she tease me my jap cmi need to work harder...

maybe the dreams not frequent enough.... :D

A good indicator of your dreams will be:

variety, like in different situations, speaking to different people, different environments. The more kinds of dreams you have and the way you choose to react in them indicates the quality of your raw ability, since everyone will behave without conscious intervention in dream condition, a rather accurate picture of *what you see is what you get* of yourself, purely unscripted, so even though sometimes we can muddle our way through speaking in real life, we can't do that when we are dreaming...

P.S. Don't take the dreams too seriously though, they are mostly byproducts of desires and thoughts normally not thought about during the day. Mostly I just have fun and go with the flow until I wake up. My dreams cannot predict lottery numbers that's for sure...

I'm scared for my next lesson.. My teacher said that starting from the next lesson, "English words will disappear". So no more romanji to rely on. >_< And particles are killing me! >_< But I'm slowly working on it. ^_^;

One thing though, you cannot survive in Bunka if you don't have time to do your own revision or self study. At least, that's what I see from my classmates... The pace is getting faster with each lesson and those that come in to my class for replacement class also thinks that our pace is too fast. :s13: For myself, if I don't do self revision, I'd definitely be lost. :D

i share your sentiments.

looks like all the past posts on Bunka's fast pace are not uncalled for. :(

anyway azumangadaioh senpai, will one's Ele 1 class be the same as his/her Ele 2? With the same sensei to boot?

just curious because i've heard that one must pass the end of term test before he/she's allowed to register for the next level. thx in advance :D

I'm wondering the same thing, too, actually... But I'm not sure whether I'm going to continue straight away or take a break first after finishing ele1.

I personally feel that learning Japanese should be something whereby you should be rushing... The more you rush, the more you feel stressed.

Then again, feel stressed can be good too...There are ppl like me who needs a bit of stress to get work done. =)

one advice though.....don't take too much time talking to your teachers after your class or during their working hours. they got other work stuff to do too.....

i see... usually i limit myself 5 minutes after class while chatting during class conversation... :D

make the class more lively by speaking broken japanese...
