Dear all,

Please refrain from advertising and selling in this thread.

I'm sure we know the reasons behind.

Thanks.

Hi moderator sladerwin,

Think there maybe some misunderstanding. Ickle88 would like to purchase some materials on Japanese language.

We can understand Ickle88's anxiety of learning a new language :D
Thanks for the reminder :D

A little help in choosing which school!

Hey everyone, I'm new on this forum.

I would like to know which Japanese Language school is better. In terms of pace and whether the teachers are english speaking.

I'm contemplating between Hougang Language School and Ikoma. I don't seem to get detailed reviews on Hougang, and one of my friends told me that Ikoma isn't a very good school because whatever questions you want to ask the teachers, you have to ask them in Japanese or else they will not answer you?

As for Bunka, can anyone advice me on the pace?

Ikoma VS. Bunka, which is better?

I'm all hands down for Ikoma until what my friend told me..

I look forward to your advices! I'm eagerly waiting to start on Elementary!

Thank you!!!

For bunka, its a lil fast so the school have decided to increase 1 addtional elementary stage (from 2 to 3). Which also means more $$$. This will take effect from mid july. So from what I know, the classes will be conducted in a slower pace now. HTHs!

Japanese Schools and Lessons

I was a student of Ikoma Language School for their JLPT 1 preparatory course last year and I would say that it is not a bad school at all. I really enjoyed classes there as the teacher was really kind and the notes and exercises were fantastic. There were even Chinese translations for certain notes. I did very well in my JLPT and A Level Japanese thanks to my Sensei and the useful pile of notes. I'm not sure about the elementary classes though but I support Ikoma in terms of their high-quality classroom material and conducive environment. It's one of the most spacious language schools I've ever been to as well. I'm not too sure about Bunka but my friend who was studying there told me that it was a great school.

my two cents in RED :D

IKOMA teachers are english speaking but they will teach using Japanese as much as possible, they will still answer you even if you don ask in Japanese for elementary up to pre-advanced level. I believe you would be able to converse comfortably in basic Japanese
when you finished intermediate classes in IKOMA

As for Bunka, can anyone advice me on the pace?
Bunka uses the patented teaching technique for Elementary and Intermediate classes which is a bit different from the classical technique in other schools

Ikoma VS. Bunka, which is better?
which is beter depends on your resources such as time, budget and time flexibility plus self discipline
I'm all hands down for Ikoma until what my friend told me..

I look forward to your advices! I'm eagerly waiting to start on Elementary!

Thank you!!!

you can still get notes from the senseis but most of the senseis for N4 usually teach using the board where vital information is taught.
There will be past year papers too and is recommended not to miss the listening part especially :D
