alright thanks! another thing, is self study enough for JLPT preparation, or would you recommend prep courses? just yesterday my bunka sensei was like saying that we have to go back and self study, esp on keigo because of the amount of time allocated to it in class.

Prep courses would be better.
of course, if you are doing N2, self study of 16 hours per week is recommended.

I am not sure. I have not studied in Bunka before. My friends say there are conversational classes which focus only on speaking. Are these classes geared more towards intermediate or advanced learners? Is it Casual speaking or Formal speaking?

That is their Pre-Advanced and Advanced classes. I attended their Pre-advanced classes before.

1.5 hours / 10-16 students/ the teacher goes around asking the 10-16 students a question and then the student will answer. If the student cannot answer within x mins/secs, the teacher will jump to the next person, etc....

If the teacher feels that you cannot promote to the next level, you will be stuck there. Some of my students were stuck for about 1 year at the same level. But that doesn't mean that ppl in the last level of pre-advanced can speak well.

Conversation after N3 is really boil down to ur own effort. Watch more dramas and try to mimic the actors. Sing more karaoke?

Did you study Advanced full time?

i studied full time from basic till somewhere in advance. from advance to further advance, i took part time class. took the JLPT 2 prep course when i was still doing the full time courses

hi guys, just a heads up here:

the schedule on ikoma's website isn't updated real time; the schedule (updated on 7 Nov 2012) shows that all the Pre Advanced 1 Term 1 classes have started in December, but I found out today that there were 4 classes that just started a month ago.

just posting here so that anyone interested in joining ikoma have a heads up!
