Seriously??? Direct you to grey import sellers? Or they only sell this tablet via their official online store on the Shopee app?Anyone bought Lenovo Y700 tablet? I contacted Lenovo but they say they don't have this model and directed me to Shopee.
How's the performance and easy to use or not?
Yes, they directed me to shopee, but not their official online store.Seriously??? Direct you to grey import sellers? Or they only sell this tablet via their official online store on the Shopee app?
I see a couple of seller, got global version and China version but I don't understand the difference.Coz Lenovo did not release any Global Legion Y700. It's a China exclusive.
as mentioned by someone earlier, y700 not sold officially locallyI see a couple of seller, got global version and China version but I don't understand the difference.
The Y700 is available in Europe and US... so these regions use the global ROM...I see a couple of seller, got global version and China version but I don't understand the difference.
Thanks for this detailed info. I am seriously considering this model as the specs look ok and its small. The Y700 is available in Europe and US... so these regions use the global ROM...
The Y700 that is sold in China uses the China ROM...
Differences:
1. The global ROM supports the full Google Suite of services including the Play Store and all associated DRMs out of the box... the China ROM also supports the same but you have to install it yourself - you don't have access the Play Store on boot up, so you have to download the files separately and transfer using a USB flash drive (also known as sideloading)
2. While widevine L1 is likely supported on the China ROM, it doesn't mean you will get full HD + 4K play back for Western streaming sites like Netflix... the device has to be registered and lodged with Netflix.
3. The China ROM only has 2 languages - Chinese & English. Choosing English will change the interface to English but some deeper parts of the menus or system may still be in Chinese.
4. The China ROM comes with lots of China centric apps - most can be deleted but some can't and can only be disabled. This takes up space and with storage so little and apps taking up so much space these days, may be significant for some and not for others.
5. Updates of the China ROM may require you to use a China VPN to allow the servers to check your location as China in order to allow the update... this seems to be part of Lenovo's plan to segregate the market properly. Cos it is possible in the past to buy the much cheaper China version of Lenovo tablets and flash them easily to the global ROM thereby saving substantially off the list price. Right now it's not possible to reliably flash the global ROM on a China version Lenovo tablet. No one has been able to break the encryption or figure out what the security handshake is like.
6. The whole user interface doesn't look like Android... it's their own local China skin on the China ROM - it is likely a fork of the standard Android ROM for whichever version is installed... so it may present issues for certain apps and functionalities for niche apps...
Bottomline - if you're just living off web apps and streaming from the web through browser - you can relax and buy the China ROM version. If not, get the global ROM version and pay the premium for all the licenses that the other version doesn't have...
the sellers i ask seem to be saying global rom cannot update. know of any seller of the proper global rom? Can pm me thnxThe Y700 is available in Europe and US... so these regions use the global ROM...

Then they're likely not selling the true gmjaaj ROM... it is some fake ROM they mod to look like the global ROM but it cannot be updated... in that case just buy the China ROM version if all you want is to play games or watching web videos...the sellers i ask seem to be saying global rom cannot update. know of any seller of the proper global rom? AFAIK, y700 tablet was never officially launched outside of China. The y700 you see on Lenovo eu or us websites is a windows laptop. I bought one from shopee, played with it and sold it after 6 months because of low usage.Only issue is can't find sellers for real global rom. Y700 2023 version got 2 usb c ports.I have the bigger sister y900. Does y700 2023 version dual USB C offer DP-in?
Not sure if there will be global launch. And most sellers in Shoppee offering wifi version only. No choose but hotspot from my mobile if i want to use outside. The only legit 8 inch android tablet.
Don't have any others already.
Wondering if they will ever global launch it![]()
