 Dell Inspiron 24 7000 or Inspiron 15 7000 does not comes with DVD or blueray writer?

Such high specs and price should have all in one system including 4K UHD touchscreen and Intel realsense camera.

Even a $299 laptop with 15.6" screen comes with a dvd writer and usb 3.1~ :s22:

seems like consumers are shortchanged :(

I got different opinion, no ODD mean the laptop can be slimmer thus able to bring down the weight of Inspiron 15 7000. If really there is a need just get an external slim ODD ba.:)

As you all know Dell Inspiron 15 7000 can be packed with the latest hardware like the 6th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-6700HQ Processor and NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 960M 4GB GDDR5 with an impressive 4K UHD Touchscreen. It's core design is actually a 2-in-1 laptop/tablet with 360-degree hinge.
inspiron-15-7000-photo-4.jpg

It is also tested to have impressive battery life almost more than double the mainstream laptop available outside. Thus making it perfect to be use outside for doing sales presentation or providing entertainment on the go. :):)

This 2 in 1 variant of the Dell Inspirion 15 7000 looks good for doing presentation. Is it much more expensive than the normal laptop variant of the Inspirion 15 7000?

Actually the spec in Gaiason's post is referring to Dell 15 7000 (7559) model, while 2-in-1 tablet model having slightly different specification like their CPU and GPU.

I have listed down their difference for your comparison. :)

Inspiron 15 7000 Series 2-in-1 spec :
- 6th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-6500U Processor (4M Cache, up to 3.10 GHz)
- Intel® HD Graphics 5500
- 15.6 inch LED Backlit Touch Display with Truelife and FHD Resolution (1920 x 1080)
- 1TB 5400 RPM SATA3 Hard Drive
- 6-Cell Battery (Integrated)

Inspiron 15 7000 (7559) spec:
- 6th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-6700HQ Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.50 GHz)
- NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 960M 4GB GDDR5
- LCD 15.6" Ultra High Definition LGD, Touchscreen
- 1TB 5400 rpm SATA Hybrid Hard Drive with 8GB Cache
- 6-Cell Battery (Integrated)

There is no Inspiron 15 7000 but there is a pending XPS 15 to get display.

I think i will drop by later to see the Realsense in real action, here is hoping the fps of the apps are consistently higher with so much i7 6700HQ power running in the background.

No Inspirion 24 7000 too?
Please give us a review of the Intel RealSense, whether it is accurate and so on.

Yes I agree with you.
However, the Dell Inspirion 15 7000 is a little too much to be constantly carrying around. A Dell laptop with a 14" screen or smaller would be better.

Sometimes we have make choice between portability and performance. =:p

Look at primary school kids, sometimes their school bags are much heavier than this Dell 15 7000. :D

Ok thanks. Looks like the Inspirion 15 7000 2-in-1 is for presentations, business use while the 7559 variant is more for gaming so it has a more powerful CPU and GPU.

Alienware 15 around $2800 with 3GB 970m.

Yes the insprion 24 7000 is created more for family friendly users than for the intensive 3d gamer.

Wah the Alienware 15 is much more expensive than the Inspirion 15 7000. Is it also slim and stylish like the Inspirion 15 7000 ?

I would say yes. Dell Inspiron 15 7000 is too powerful and high performance for your requirements. Surface Pro is a good and popular choice. Some manufacturers do have android(touchscreen) and ultrabook in one, so you can consider that too.

not really. So many student can afford Macbook. This means that their parents are loaded. :s22:

Since price is not of a concern, its the features which are of greater importance. Like you mentioned, long battery life is definitely a must have for students. SSD is mainly for the speed. Portability is also a major factor as seen from Macbooks and Ultrabook which students are using.

This means that the Dell Inspirion 15 7000 is definitely not the choice for regular students who dont require gaming and powerful performance. The weight should put them off since it is considerably much heavier than ultrabooks.

Yes only gaming requires such a powerful GPU in the Inspirion 15 7000.
Can consider those laptops with Integrated Intel® HD Graphics 5500 if using for other purposes.

Dell Inspirion 15 7000 and Dell Inspirion 24 7000 AIO are expensive ware above $1000, but they are not suitable for gaming? :s11:

If we purchase other gaming system, will there be Intel Realsense camera built in?

Dell Inspiron 15 7000 specification is good enough to gaming ba... :)

I find the naming convention a little strange... the dell Inspiron 24 7000 is a desktop while the dell Inspiron 15 7000 is a notebook... :o

Forgot to stated their price; $1899 for Dell Inspiron 15 7000 (7559) vs $1399 for 2-in-1 (7568).

My bad, just realised the battery for Dell Inspiron 15 7000 2-in-1 series should be 3-Cell battery (integrated) instead of 6-cell. :o:o
