The Alienware 17 R3 has a number pad. The other smaller models ie Alienware 13, 17 dont include them.

As mentioned before, having a number pad is essential to gamers as many games utilize it during gaming. The Alienware 15 got a ton of space by the sides of the keyboard, surely Alienware can find a way to fit a numberpad inside..

Surface Pro of course cannot compare to Alienware. Its simply a ultrabook in a different form factor. Same goes for the XPS.. its a ultrabook. Alienware is upgradable to the GTX 980M while XPS 15 is fixed at GTX 960M it seems.

I guess you can't call the Alienware 15 a ultrabook but rather a regular laptop since it weighs over 2kg. Nevertheless, it can still provide the mobility which users need. It is still surprising though, how they are able to fit such powerful performance graphics in such a thin gaming laptop.

My 15" laptop comes with a number pad too, makes it more convenient than my old 14" laptop. But the Alienware 15 laptop beats my laptop in gaming performance easily. :s13:

I am not sure whether Xiaomi powerbank are the best, but the price vs the capacity is cheap, no other brands can compare to their prices.

For Dell powerbank companion, I think the most attractive part is the 1 year warranty.

Not sure whether can power Dell Inspiron 7000 laptop or Dell Alienware R3 laptop?

yea. xiaomi powerbank are quite good and price is very competitive. that's why so many ppl use it.

Does the turbo boost in Dell Inspiron 17 7000 or even the Alienware 17 R3 create unnecessary heat and battery power consumption?

The Alienware 17 R3 on battery estimated battery life was only a mere 5 hours, when using turbo boost, will the battery life shorten to 2.5 hours, this timing may not even enough for gaming at public places without power supply. :(

Can the Turbo Boost be switched off when the Alienware 17 R3 is not connected to AC power? So we can maximize the battery life.

I didn't read up much on the latest Alienware X51 R3, so finds it rather surprising to include support for their Alienware Graphics Amplifier. I wonder do they really need it since the internal discrete graphics is already user-accessible. Yet the amplifier itself is also bigger than the X51 R3 chassis. There are also availability of mITX oriented mini higher end cards like R9 Nano and GTX 970.

I seriously think having the support is kind of white elephant since buyers will otherwise opt for full fledge PCs if they end up wanting even higher end graphics performance card. This stunt is probably to brainwash buyers into believing that the amplifier actually complements their X51 R3. :s22:

Ya I think no gamer would buy X51 R3 and the Graphics Amplifier, since X51 R3's graphics can be upgraded.

Hmm I think it does not come with a controller.

http://www.dell.com/sg/p/alienware-alpha/pd

As stated on the website, it says that the Xbox controller is optional which i presume you have to purchase separately. Keyboard and mouse are not included as well. I suppose this means you only get the box.

Consoles settings are limited, but for the Alienware Alpha, it is simply just a regular PC squeezed into a small compact console size. This means that you can get better performance and graphic settings compared to consoles when gaming. Sadly, it does not support the Alienware Graphics Amplifier and I would be interested to see how their 2GB graphic card fare against the newest AAA titles in the market now.

Not sure if the new Steam controller can work with this device but should be able to. http://store.steampowered.com/app/353370

Steam is pushing out their games to be played on console together with their Big Picture mode. I can see great potential in this.

Perhaps Dell Alienware should collaborate with Steam to give them discount coupons or some free games to redeem with their purchase of the Alienware Alpha. After all, their Alienware Arena https://na.alienwarearena.com/giveaways has been quite generous in their giveaways :o

It seems the Alienware Alpha comes with a modified Nvidia GTX 860M graphics card with 2GB of VRAM and it does quite well.

Thanks, did not realized the current technology of m2 slot is limited to 512GB.

Maybe Dell Alienware 17 R3 can just include 2x SATA slots for 2x SSD raids instead, rather than getting more expensive m2 SSDwith smaller capacity.

Link: http://www.hardwarezone.com.sg/tech...rst-3d-v-nand-ssd-ssd-850-pro-updated-pricing

Laptops with DVD drive can have the drive changed to an SSD, but don't know whether it can RAID with the primary SATA slot.

But they take up a lot of space much more than the 4x M.2 slots, so maybe not a good idea for the Alienware 17 R3.

Huawei mobile phone has this Gel cooling technology which I guess does not have the leaking problem.

I think Dell Alienware can borrow this technology for use in their Alienware R3 laptops or even Dell Inspiron 7000 series laptop.

Think this is a good idea for Dell Alienware R3 laptops, but not sure whether it is more effective than a normal fan or water cooling solution.

I don't think Alienware Alpha can do hardcore gaming as they never reveal the underlying Nvidia GPU model. Seeing only 2GB worth of GDDR5 available i guess it is a GTX 750 Ti or 950...

The Alienware Alpha comes with the a custom overclocked GTX 860M, which ppl say is equivalent to a GTX 750 Ti.
It can't really do hardcore gaming, but you can use it for Office and Photoshop which other gaming consoles cannot do.

The size is also a bit bigger than surface book.
The price of a max out XPS15 is cheaper than a max out Surface Pro 4..a full mobile quad core i7 against a mobile dual core i7-u

OfAb.jpg

The XPS 15 's screen is virtually borderless and looks slim and stylish compared to the Surface Pro 4. Would prefer the more powerful quad core i7 and cheaper XPS 15.

I would prefer Alienware 15 R3 and paired with Alienware Graphics Amplifier for the best setup.

My conjecture based on the absence of bailing out when they could have done that earlier today. And xtramadness already won his HDD.

I want to win the 1TB HDD but seems like I'm too late. I have no use for the Power Companion and Bluetooth Speaker.

Alienware X51 selling point is the shape which allows hot air to be released fast and away from the components in the case. The Alienware Graphics Amplifier is meant for use with their Alienware 15 or 17 laptops.
