Is Intel RealSense supposed to be better than xbox motion tech ?

Xbox is much better as it can capture full body. Intel RealSense Camera using Intel RealSense Technology can only track 22 points of a human hand and facial expressions.

Thinnest 23.8” all-in-one desktop with Intel® RealSense™ camera
Full HD wide-viewing display with IPS technology
NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) 940M 4GB GDDR3

Good for photoshop and gaming.

The challenge

The hardware hacking team from TNG Technology Consulting GmbH started to work on a device which is capable to do full field of view augmented reality in March 2015 when the company’s winter retreat was taking place.

The mobile “TNG Augmented Rift” is a full field of view Augmented Reality device capable to do e.g. face tracking, face identification, emotion detection, heart rate detection, distance measurements, etc. Speech recognition for command and control is implemented as well.

The goal

The goal was to build a device made with off-the-shelf hardware in one working day. Within this short period of time eleven TNG software consultants were able to implement a prototype which is based on an Oculus Rift DK2 and an Intel RealSense F200 3D-camera. With some additional days and a core team of about six TNG software developers we were able to add some more features for the Augmented Rift.

The TNG Augmented Rift consists of off-the-shelf hardware like the Oculus Rift and the Intel RealSense F200 3D-camera.

The features

The TNG Augmented Rift has the following features:

See through” Augmented Reality head mounted display with Oculus Rift DK2 (in contradiction to the HoloLense the whole field of view is augmented)
You can see a lot of real time elements inside the Augmented Rift in 3D
The following visible elements are supported:

Real environment mixed with augmented information and 3D objects
Face detection elements
Face tracking information
Face landmarks
Emotions
Heart rate as text
(in progress) Heart rate as a graph (“Electrocardiography mode”)
Speech recognition for command and control (“Okay Rift, this is Martin.” – “Is this really Martin?” – “Yes!” – “From now on I will remember that user 100 is Martin.”)
“Terminator mode” (world augmented with red-shaded textures)

Some uses of RealSense...

Motion Capture

RealSense was able to capture minute movements in my lips, cheeks and eyes with almost no lag at all.

Our videogame avatars are about to get way more realistic.

3D Scanning

it’s an all in one PC with two screens – one’s a monitor, the other is a projection on your desk. Both are touch enabled (you can use a stylus on the bottom one, making it like a giant Wacom tablet), and you can use the embedded RealSense camera to scan objects onto the computer to later interact with them.

Holographic Piano-Playing

Intel did show off a setup where a piano keyboard appeared to float in mid air via an array of mirrors and lenses. You could play with keyboard by basically tapping at the air.

The future is 3D, just not the kind you thought

RealSense that we were able to check out on the show floor, but the company also showed off some other really applications, such as spatially-aware drones, robot insects, and even creating a 3D model of a person by circling around them with a tablet.

Me, Mockingjay and Nakedtoes got minus points last event remember? :s8:

I got majority of my points deducted. Hope this time can win something. Probably some voucher to purchase Dell Inspiron 24 7000. Wanted to test the Intel® RealSense™ 3D Camera.

Me as well... Let see if the management for Intel and Dell is just as bad as Samsung... No wonder Samsung sales dropping... Wonder if we can get Intel RealSense Camera using RealSense Technology cheap!

not as worse as LG campaign bah, only give out how many rewards nia... at least Samsung one very good to give out much more so more ppl can get... :(:(

For Dell Inspiron 24 7000, It is about $2049. You probably would want to redeem the discount voucher if you are going to purchase this.

I think lower specs one not so exp, if for me, I will just get the normal one for daily usage like Internet surfing, some office productivity, and not on gaming...

One of the benefits fro Dell Inspiron 24 7000 with Intel RealSense camera is that since it can detect depth, you need not use green skin behind you to remove the background for maybe video conferencing or live streaming. Using tech to save time and cost... :):)

For me, even with discount voucher, the price for Dell Inspiron 24 7000 still very steep, above $1.7k. I rather go to get a laptop.

agree. The discount voucher doesn't do any justice either. I probably could get the same machine cheaper elsewhere.

This event seem like less ppl taking part maybe a suggestion to the HWZ admin, instead of having top 1-3 prize expensive item i suggest to spread out the prize value to lure more users to take part in such "reward event" so that omost all the users whom take part will have a prize no matter small or big. For example previous samsung memory card event the prize is small but there is many quantity for users to redeem thus more active posts. This event even though the top 2 prize is good but if you decrease the budget value for the top prizes and give out more smaller prize(not discount coupon unless it is super attractive). Win win situation for hwz to achieve marketing/promote product objective and users who take part will not be empty handed :)
