Dell Alienware Graphic Amplifier external wiring connection was too messy, I wonder how many would bother to plug in and out the cables everyday for 365 days a year.
Maybe a better solution would be using a ultra fast 5G wireless connection at 1Tbps between the laptop and Graphics Amplifier

Omg, so many wirings, kind of make the whole table so messy.

XPS 13: When you see it...

We'll be revealing Part 2 of this video on Friday, 20 November. Watch this space!

Same guy whom had Dell desktop ? :s11:

Now this new Dell Ultrabook XPS 13 that he bought~

With Quad HD Touch display and InfinityEdge display weight at 1.29KG, only 9-15mm~

Too slim and sleek, from far looked like a magazine. His maid might have thought this Dell XPS 13 as another old issue of HWM, stack with old newspaper sell to Karang Guni~

Bad news for those using Alienware Alpha or Steam machine, the gaming performance is so much slower than Windows 10 system.

Better get a Dell Inspiron 24 7000 with Intel realsense Camera for better gaming experience instead.

Ars Technica tested both OSes with Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Metro: Last Light Redux, both of which are fairly demanding games. As it turned out, SteamOS performed anywhere from 21% to 58% slower than Windows 10, depending on the graphics settings. One of the starkest differences was in Shadow of Mordor at Ultra settings and 1080p resolution, where Windows 10 managed a playable average of 34.5fps but SteamOS stuttered by at a measly 14.6fps.

The Alienware 17 R3 has a number pad. The other smaller models ie Alienware 13, 17 dont include them.

As mentioned before, having a number pad is essential to gamers as many games utilize it during gaming. The Alienware 15 got a ton of space by the sides of the keyboard, surely Alienware can find a way to fit a numberpad inside..

Surface Pro of course cannot compare to Alienware. Its simply a ultrabook in a different form factor. Same goes for the XPS.. its a ultrabook. Alienware is upgradable to the GTX 980M while XPS 15 is fixed at GTX 960M it seems. http://www.dell.com/sg/p/xps-15-9550-laptop/pd

I guess you can't call the Alienware 15 a ultrabook but rather a regular laptop since it weighs over 2kg. Nevertheless, it can still provide the mobility which users need. It is still surprising though, how they are able to fit such powerful performance graphics in such a thin gaming laptop.

Yah, nowadays 15.6" laptop all have full keyboard already.

But the keyboard buttons not comfortable for gaming unlike those desktop keyboard where buttons are big and pressing deep inside~

Hope that Alienware 17 R3 has a good mechanical keyboard with deep pressing buttons, but that may causing the laptop to increase in size.

Dell maybe using lithium polymer battery that why more expensive~ high tier pb match Alienware gaming laptop

Dell Power Companion should be using cells battery instead of lithium polymer battery, since the shape of the casing looks big and not slim, similar to Xiaomi 16000mah pattern

same here, even though beforehand I know of Alienware products (even worked under Dell during IT show once) but Alienware Graphics Amplifier is something new.

How Alienware R3 laptop as compared to Dell Inspiron 17 7000 in terms of gaming experience?

Yea, initially I also couldn't locate the Dell XPS 13, so thin with borderless InfinityEdge display.

Just saw the new video. Should be the middle one right with the trees... it has the brightest and most vibrant screen compared to the rest.

Looks like Dell is featuring its XPS 13 laptop with its borderless Infinity Edge display screen.

Seems like it has premium build quality as they even use Corning Glass for their QHD touchscreen!

Despite its slim and thin profile, it packs a whooping 18 hours of long battery life for the user.

Have GTX 980 graphic cards on laptops. Someone posted this image here before.
geforce-gtx-980-notebooks-upcoming-models-r2-640px.png

But then it will be extremely bulky and take up huge space. Battery life also severely affected. That's why Alienware choose to manufacture a separate AGA for its gamers to enjoy desktop gaming when they are at home. Best of both worlds!
Noob here, I dun understand, the technologies, PCs etc are forever evolving. Why GPU manufacturers are not coming out with a smaller sized GPU without compromising on performance? Am I missing something out?

Hmm if they really put a desktop GTX 980 into a notebook.. surely it will provide powerful graphic performance at a cost. I dont think its a great idea since you will compensate it from long battery life. So unless you use switchable graphic else sure suck your battery like free. It will weigh a ton too.

I think ill still choose Alienware 15 + Alienware Graphics Amplifier :s13:
Is it really that bad for battery juice to have a good GPU in the laptop itself? Or those really good gaming GPUs' don't have sizes suitable for a laptop? If it is the latter, I believed GPUs manufacturers will have looked into it and produce 1?

Alienware 17 R3 does not have a powerful GPU as compared to Desktop GPU? :s11:
Else, why are consumer paying more for Alienware 17 R3 when a dell inspiron 17 7000 is just less than 50% of the price? :s11:
Since need to get a Alienware Graphics Amplifier for Alienware laptop, the Alienware laptop like handicapped.
Won't be handicapped bah, since the Graphics Amplifier is marketed as optional item, to enhance gaming experiences.

We can also upgrade the storage of Dell XPS 13 to a 1TB PCIe SSD. Wonder if we can upgrade its GPU?

I used to go to this lanshop at Dhoby Ghaut MRT station. they all used Aleinware X51 there. This allows them to occupy less table space and able to accommodate more people per table.

Nevertheless the downside is the graphics card is entry level, so have to lower the graphics setting :vijayadmin:

 putting Alienware X51 for all the stations? The boss must be very rich, if there are 50 stations, then the cost will be whopping $25000

I guess there can just put Dell inspiron 24 7000, AIO save space and not skimp on performances yet offer big gaming screen experiences.

Sure! There are a lot in fact. You can check them out on the Steam url below.
http://store.steampowered.com/tag/en/TouchFriendly/#p=0&tab=NewReleases
It is especially useful for those detective games where you have to tap on items/clues to play the game.
Alternatively, you can play your Android games on your PC using emulators like Bluestacks http://www.bluestacks.com/ or GenyMotion https://www.genymotion.com/.

At the very least, it will consume less powerpoints than desktop users :s13:
Desktop require CPU, Monitor, Speakers(or dont need if using headset).
Its good for gaming la. Play with friends games like CS:GO or DOTA 2 should be able to run max settings even without the Alienware Graphics Amplifier. Those games dont really require high performance cards. That is the whole point of portability and mobility.
I also prefer desktop for gaming. Having a bigger screen is always better for gaming. :o
Thanks for sharing, especially on the emulators. Can reignite the gaming flame in me again :)

Desktop 2 powerpoints only mah, CPU and monitor, speakers/headsets plug into CPU will do. Unless you are telling me the Alienware Graphics Amplifier get its power from the laptop.
