LG just fixed a bug that left 10 million G3 smartphones vulnerable

Last Thursday, Cynet revealed that their researchers, in collaboration with BugSec, had discovered a pretty serious vulnerability affecting LG G3 smartphones. They let LG know about the issue prior to publicizing it, and the company reacted quickly. A patch is now available that closes the data-theft hole, and LG is encouraging all G3 owners to update their devices as soon as possible.

The bug resides in a particular app called Smart Notice that comes pre-installed on LG G3 smartphones. The notification platform serves to ferry a variety of relevant information to users, but what it failed to do was vet data before presenting it. Researchers discovered it was possible to manipulate data in such a way that malicious code could be executed remotely.

For those who get the auto-rebooting problem after updating via LG pc suite (LG has not rectified this bad update as of 30 Jan 2016). Can follow instructions from earlier post below to roll back to kit kat.

#5576
No need to downgrade by flashing kdz file. Just use LG pc suite as follow;
Install LG PC suite to pc or laptop
Connect to phone by usb cable and open pc suite
PC suite will detect your phone and will prompt as software update is available
Go ahead to upgrade firmware as follow pc suite instruction.
After the second reboot your phone will happen boot-looping.
But don't worry, just disconnect to the phone to pc ie. Remove usb cable.
Open the battery cover and take out the battery.
Put back the battery and go into the recovery mode by pressing Power & Vol Down buttons at the same time.
When lg logo appears, release the keys.
Immediately press the Power and Vol down buttons again until the Hard Rest menu will be displayed.
Then follow on screen instruction to make the factory reset.
After factory reset is done, you will get back to your previous latest version of Kitkat 4.4.2 v10K.
Hopefully it will help you.

In case you don't know, if you install Google Photos it will replace the stock LG G3 Photo Editor. I like the stock LG G3 Photo Editor.

Yea man! I am waiting for it eagerly as well.

One friend of mine got the Korean version and upgraded to MM. Looks sleek, but I couldnt find much difference in terms of features however.

Actually one step to greatly improve battery life on any phone, they said - remove Facebook app and Messenger. I did a week ago and it's so true!
