Just to share, my mother's G3 had the same battery issue last year. As others describe, the phone is usable only when connected to charger.

her phone was rooted (by me, to apply SDfix) so couldnt claim warranty. Went to get a 3rd party battery and resolved the issue.

I changed battery but drain battery problem still happen, since out of warranty so change to other new mobile phone...

It's a battery issue according to LG staff when I checked with them this afternoon.

LG service centre is selling the batt at $40

i have changed the battery. it works now - ie i do not have to continually charge to use the phone.

but the battery life is in shambles. it is really crappy. 100% to less than 10% in less than 3-4 hours.

what the hell is wrong with this phone? i highly suspect it is the firmware.

Hi there

I am a G3 user since June last year, can't help but to notice the phone gets rather hot at the camera and button area up top even under very light usage (Whatsapp, Snapchat, etc). Is this a normal sign? And those already loaded Marshmallow ROM on your G3 devices, does the build solve the heat issue? Many thanks.

If anyone has problems with their G3, i highly recommend you just root the damn phone and flash fulmics rom 4.2 with xceed kernel 2.4a. This is my SOT, which to be pretty honest is amazing.

Not sure if anyone has this problem but I have stopped using my G3 for about 2.5months now.

Screen freezes with some horizontal lines and it slowly fades to black. It becomes non-responsive despite tapping the screen and it only comes alive sometimes when I tap the power button at the back.

The screen response is intermittent and I did some research on the internet and it appears to be a faulty motherboard. Brought it to LG service center and was quoted about 600plus to replace both MB and the screen.

I like the LG for its big screen but am using the S7 now, still getting use to the smaller screen.

Anyone has this issue before?

I'm having the exact same issue:

Initially thought it was the battery issue, as the battery became bloated, so i replaced a brand new battery bought from Qoo10 (Korea), and the screen became unresponsive and its intermittent, crazy and unpredictable as it just went off without any warning, and sometimes fade off with some horizontal lines like what you mentioned, i quickly did an internal memory backup and gotten a spare S4 as a temporary phone for now. Missed the big screen, and i'm unsure if its LCD issue or motherboard. G3 served me almost 2 years...

Just installed Greece marshmallow v30f, smoother and SOT become about 4 hours non gaming.

Best part is the doze, battery drop maybe 1% or 2% overnight which is good for me as I don't charge it through the night.

Did the update solve overheating issues plaguing Lollipop models?

Nope, it is still a hot potato, but it doesn't seems to throttle, so no big issue.

It usually reach 40 degrees on the gsam app when I use it outdoor.

I think the most common hairline crack is at the 3.5mm jack port.

iirc, some guy managed to get it fixed as it is a "defect"

My phone seems to get really warm (hot sometimes) at the camera/rear button area even under moderately light usage (Whatsapp, Twitter), I don't game or watch videos on it very often. Is this actually normal? Still running Lollipop 5.0 build.

I dont find much heat on my G3 most of the time. Probably the only time i feel it wam is when the phone is hunting for a decent phone signal.

Using the phone for close to 1 year. So far I find it good.
