do ur feel that this is battery hungry phone? in fact i feel that it is the most battery hungry phone i ever encounter :/

Are you on MM 20A? Lots of people are whining about the lousy battery life.. I believe this phone is not the worst battery "sucker". I don't really feel much difference, because I play games on my phone.. :(

haha i also ended up relying on a xiaomi backup phone (mi4i) in the christmas and new year weeks while waiting for my phone to fix

I like that the Mi4i is so much more comfortable to hold (hence my earlier mention that if the G5 is smaller than the G4 i might trade in the G4 for G5) but MiUI has a bunch of issues for me so user experience not as good. And of course the camera is nowhere near the G4's standard under low light.

Indeed, the finger print sensor is incredible for such an affordable phone. ;)

Go for the flagships if within your budget. :D
I'm using Redmi Note 2 now, love the miui experience so far except my pebble watch cannot function well with the software. Waiting for my G4 to be fixed.. :s22:

10 years ago if you were to ask me if I would buy a china branded phone, I would have said no.. but now, I would say that Xiaomi is able to match up to or be on par with the the big boys on the market - in terms of reliability, build quality and what not.

Was a custom rom user in its infant stages before and I did enjoy flashing MIUI back then as it was really polished as compared to ASOP / Cyanogen at that time (2010 - 2012 period)... so I do have fond memories and pretty good impressions of Miui.

Custom rom flashing and rooting is easier nowadays as it's more automated and simplified. I believe there are plenty of custom roms out there for the adventurous :D *

* do not that warranty maybe void / phone maybe bricked, so it's on your own risk.

Speaking of cameras..
LG has great cameras - especially macro shots! - can't seem to do it as seamlessly or smooth on my S6 without getting somewhat annoyed that it can't focus! :s13:

Hello good evening! :)

Mind telling us a few things?
- What android version is it on / what rom version is it on
- Has it been dropped recently?
- Any apps that recently installed too

Cheers!

China branded phones may be on par with the big boys in terms of build and specifications but I am still quite skeptical for safety reasons.

I was of the same opinion 2 yrs back until my big bang branded phone (a samsung) died on me within a year. I then got me the Redmi and ended up using it more running it through its paces.. tons of accidental drops, harrowing usage both locally and overseas and its still running strong like a stallion. Redmi I can vouch for. But if you are talking about those carbon-copy fake branded phones yes, those you should be careful of..

Besides, these days even the top-contenders run-of-the-mill from Korea are getting less and less reliable. The G4 makes a fine example. My previous phones iPhone, Samsung, G2 all died within a year.. Strangely, redmi has lasted. Not to mention, their original accessories are very cheap to buy and replace. My two cents worth.. :s8:

xiaomi's quality is pretty good, imo the only thing is how ok you are with a very heavily skinned android (as is the case for such china brands)

and yes a lot of top brand phones seem to have such a short lifespan now, since phone models are refreshed on an annual basis. They dont even want to cover you more than 1 year of warranty. Our G4's 505 series motherboards died at the 6 months mark if the 512 series similarly dies after another 6 months we're out of luck.

i read on XDA about battery being worse on MM too for LG, but havent had time to really monitor mine.

I agreed that there are good China branded phones.

I am skeptical not regarding the lifespan of the phones but the unknown damage due to prolonged usage.

My previous coming 3 years Samsung Galaxy S3 is still running good.

I get it! - things like shoddy soldering etc. Hmmmm.. There are two sides to a coin I suppose. A good thing about a reputable china brands like Oppo & Xiaomi and OPO is that it's affordable.. to replace should things start to feel "odd" during usage

Yeah and the S3 Lte is one rugged phone. :D

Ok, I understand where your coming from well if its any consolation, Xiaomi phones if bought for Singapore market is IDA approved and comes with the Safety Mark, CE0700 and also complies with the European Union R&TTE certification.. Not trying to sell you my redmi okay! :s13:

As for the record, yep I had the S3 too (sold it off) and I do agree it was of good quality and reliability but unfortunately, the same can't be said for future phones. Every phone maker is so eager to put the next new thing out these daze that they fail on the QC aspect, as it seems. :(
