Been using for more than 2 weeks since I got it back.
505 to 512.
So far so good, voice recorder works, camera works, phone calls are good. No encounter of overheating yet.

nope you can't.

yes you can if you are willing to pay the asking price of LG whereby it might be better off for you to buy another phone instead.

Dammit... just been hit by the infamous bootloop! Happened suddenly when surfing the Web. Phone just hang and I was going 'oh ****..'. Restart and confirmed dead. Mine is 505 of course, bought in June 2015. Seriously ticking time bomb. :(

Typing this on my backup phone Note 2.

Well, it is very appreciative for you to give the details
of all those who care to voice out their G4 problem.

As a gesture or maybe a hint as to how to do better
in after sales service, here are some options or suggestions
for the management of the after sales service dept/team.

1) Replace whatever parts that is faulty either free or
with great discount.

2) Give a good cash discount voucher so that they can
upgrade to the latest available device on the market or
for the new G5.

The whole idea of excellent after sales service is not to
allow the customers feel cheated, or feel that the service
of LG is below expected standard.

Next to mention is losing even one customer is a
tremendous lost in the long run.

Well, the think-tank mastermind has to work harder
to keep all loyal customers. Have faith to service means
customers will have faith in the product that they have
decided to purchase.

tremendous lost in the long run.

This is true for large companies that undertake big projects where they literally have only 1 or 2 'customers' which are big corporate clients.

Unfortunately, LG is a large company (think its one of the top 5 in size in korea), with hundreds of thousands of customers. To really hurt them, they need to lose not "1 customer", they need to lose customers on the same volume that Blackberry or Nokia lose customers to really feel the burn.

Samsung actually lost 1 customer (myself) 3 years ago because I didnt like the way they support the SIII so i stopped getting Samsung. And the company is still going strong.

Actually on this matter I feel that the market needs to stop being so geared towards consumerism. Even I'm guilty of the mindset that even if the phone spoil, within a year, there's a new model on the horizon, within 2 years, there's a recontract deal from the telco.

And maybe that makes me 'less' angry at LG than I should be, and if LG (and other companies) knows it, that's why they put less effort into their QC, and this kind of motherboard cockup becomes 'the norm' in today's life and consumers have to live with it, because the devices of today 'naturally' have such a short lifespan...

I guess we have to consider what matters more? Have a phone that last 5 years? Or to have the spending power to be able to afford buying 5 phones (1 phone every year)

Lets discuss on the area of losing even one customer can
hurt greatly in the long run.

The other part about Samsung still doing well even they
may have lost some customers to LG, perhaps in another
thread.

We are discussing the inner spacing of providing after sales
services. One unsatisfied customer can by word of mouth
spread wide fire about the product. I too come from the
same camp (Note One). Now with Note 5, the product seems
almost similar without much advantage to advanced users
who needs are met confidently.

For LG to move step by step (one customer at a time) it will
still take them maybe two to three years from now to gain
worldwide recognition that their mobile device is at par
to the top three standing.

If Note 5 is the current top flagship from Samsung, then
LG has gone ahead a little bit with the V10. We are not
sure what's going to come out next from Samsung because
Apple is following the trend of providing two cameras and
who knows removable battery or super power battery like
8000mAH with their future iPhone. :s22:

The person who spread fire was Santiago Archila, that's the guy who took the initiative to make the change.org petition around 25th Jan (which arguably is what brought the news to media attention), while the rest of us were sitting around here in this forum talking to each other and keeping it to ourselves. If any of us were like Santiago, the petition would have been created in early December.

End of the day, it still goes back to the same thing: this is a consumer product with a short lifespan, not some mission-critical equipment worth thousands. Some of us are already thinking about the G5 (or whatever new offering may appear at MWC from other brands), rather than worrying about the longevity of the G4 in their hands...

same lo, my sis was a victim of a failed s3 just after the warranty expired. i sold mine shortly after and got a budget phone instead of waiting for a ticking bomb. any phone that can't make it pass the 2yr mark is a lousy, poor qc phone. period.

reason: my sis dead s3 was just 1yr few days old. in comparison, her everlasting iphone 3gs lasted around 5years. sometimes, i don't trust korean products v much, unlike jap/us based companies.

maybe people these days change phone every year whereas me prefer phone with decent lifespan of 3years, because by then my contract would be up. qc is also a deciding factor for me to get a premium product, so i want to use for 2years+ :o my old nokia phone still can work

To be fair, the SIII was a long time ago on a technology timescale. I'm sure Samsung has improved a lot since then. The way they're willing to trim down the bloated touchwiz is a sign that they can recognize the need to change some things for the better.

Of course currently they're still stuck in their "aesthetic is more important" mindset so I dont think I'll be going back to samsung anytime soon until they stop making things out of fragile glass with easily-scratched metal frames.

cannot and i don't think technology has become so advanced now, looking back at nokia old technology which can survive even after been through rounds in the washing machine :(

samsung doesn't deserve a second chance the moment they take away removable battery and microsd slot...

like i said before, if that's the case, i rather return back to iphone :( that's why lg is still in my list for now
