This is true for large companies that undertake big projects where they literally have only 1 or 2 'customers' which are big corporate clients.
Unfortunately, LG is a large company (think its one of the top 5 in size in korea), with hundreds of thousands of customers. To really hurt them, they need to lose not "1 customer", they need to lose customers on the same volume that Blackberry or Nokia lose customers to really feel the burn.
Samsung actually lost 1 customer (myself) 3 years ago because I didnt like the way they support the SIII so i stopped getting Samsung. And the company is still going strong.
Actually on this matter I feel that the market needs to stop being so geared towards consumerism. Even I'm guilty of the mindset that even if the phone spoil, within a year, there's a new model on the horizon, within 2 years, there's a recontract deal from the telco.
And maybe that makes me 'less' angry at LG than I should be, and if LG (and other companies) knows it, that's why they put less effort into their QC, and this kind of motherboard cockup becomes 'the norm' in today's life and consumers have to live with it, because the devices of today 'naturally' have such a short lifespan...
I guess we have to consider what matters more? Have a phone that last 5 years? Or to have the spending power to be able to afford buying 5 phones (1 phone every year)
Lets discuss on the area of losing even one customer can
hurt greatly in the long run.
The other part about Samsung still doing well even they
may have lost some customers to LG, perhaps in another
thread.
We are discussing the inner spacing of providing after sales
services. One unsatisfied customer can by word of mouth
spread wide fire about the product. I too come from the
same camp (Note One). Now with Note 5, the product seems
almost similar without much advantage to advanced users
who needs are met confidently.
For LG to move step by step (one customer at a time) it will
still take them maybe two to three years from now to gain
worldwide recognition that their mobile device is at par
to the top three standing.
If Note 5 is the current top flagship from Samsung, then
LG has gone ahead a little bit with the V10. We are not
sure what's going to come out next from Samsung because
Apple is following the trend of providing two cameras and
who knows removable battery or super power battery like
8000mAH with their future iPhone.
