Lucky I have changed my 512 mobo to 604. I hope the boot loop don't come back again... :o

I read a number of pages back in this thread that a LG technician mentioned batch 604 onwards is safe and no more bootloop. Of course have to wait and see if true or not.

Btw I'm on 604 also and playing Pokemon Go. So far still good.

OK update...

I just sent in to LG for servicing, the guy said my batch still affected, and they will replace 1 more time for free even if out of warranty for me.

So yeah. I guess I dont trust LG mobile anymore after this debacle

ehh mine is a 512 as well :s11: hearing all the 512 users getting bootloops now is scary

when did you get your 512 mobo installed in your phone? I got mine installed late Dec (after Christmas), so far no bootloop after more than 6 months but theres always that uncertainty about what point in time did LG exactly switch over from the 'wrong fix' to the 'correct fix' because there definitely was 1 point in time when they were screwing up an entire batch of fixes (hence the people who got 2nd bootloop)

actually although I did get my 512 motherboard late Dec 2015, I did subsequenty revisit the LG service centre again on 2 more occasions in 2016 (for camera fix and for LCD replacement due to image retention), not sure if the tech staff auto-inspect for whether the bootloop fix is the 'correct fix'

There is a method to retrieve the data. This involves putting your phone in the freezer. You can google it. I personally do not recommend this because after you take out the phone from the freezer, there will be condensation and it may cause the water indicators inside your phone to change colour.

another visit to the LG svc centre. 4th time as a owner of a new g4 slightly past 12mths old (give it 13mths MAX as i bought it off someone who recon and sold it off).
cam when doing focusing (particularly MF and close up) will have buzzing sounds as tho the shutter broke loose and ball bearing vibration. and also with image on cam moving like seawave. i explaint to front desk and was told they can do a cam replacement n that would be the last wty repair they could honor as on paper my wty expired earlier this mth. worse part he sounded like i finding a fault to smoke them for wty repair as i didnt have enough time to replicate the problem at the desk. he also didnt really bother to find out more n only stated "cam sound when focus".
i went back to collect 1hr later and tested the cam. new one cant even get a close up image focused both in AF & MF, and the seawave problem worsen. rejected and was advised now suspeccted mobo faulty. nb!

btw i came in for lcd faulty with a line, bootloop mobo replaced, sd slot faulty mobo replaced and now this.

LATEST: confirm mobo faulty again. c b. going back to do backup and come back another day to hve the mobo replaced AGAIN for 3rd piece. btw was told mobo no stock now but have reserved 1 for me dont know izt real.

Had my mobo replaced yesterday for the 3rd time all due to different fault. Was there the past 2 days and did observe still quite a plenty walking in for boot loop issues.

F**K, camera having the same issue again, close up (macro) having problem focusing, intermittent buzzing sounds with occasional "seawaves".

2weeks back, after my problem resurfaced again, i called in to ask for mobo stock b4 i go down again. the cso who served me at the frontdesk made a call back to me requesting me to bring it down for diagnosis again, this time asking me to give them 2-3days time to do a further check. i asked for a loan set since i do not have a decent spare phone. on the phone, he offered a 'not high end' smart phone as a loan set. i told him i would visit last week but due to work i didn't.

now guess what? the phone can't make or receive any calls/text by my telco service. can only work by wifi. tested sim card is working on an old phone.

just sent in my set for servicing of reoccuring fault of cam focusing fault from a replaced mobo and cam almost a mth ago. during this one mth faced new problems. network signal really bad another hardware problem. latest one is lcd display only half the screen which just happened 2nites ago. yet another "last warranty repair".

btw in response to the user who posted on e sdcard corrupted issue. i personally encountered twice on such problem on two different mobo and two different sdcard.

first time was on a replaced board after very initial bootloop. had to manually do photo recovery which was freaking tedious n time consuming work (lost some pics as some were corrupted too badly i could only get back partial of the image. later on found that the sd card slot is faulty. bcoz of this replaced mobo another time.

2nd time on my newer sd card was before i sent in for another repair for cam prob (which i was told by LG was caused by mobo). dunnoe by mishandling of the card or what. sdcard was removed and slotted into an older phone while the repair took place. after done i slot back into e repaired phone then the sdcard was found to be corrupted. went back home with scary thoughts and did some recovery scans. luckily this time round i managed to fix e card by doing chkdsk /f command in command prompt.

Wah. Maybe it's just u ocd the camera bah. At this rate right, can just give u 10 x replacement board ask u go home any issue replace ur self like replaceable battery liddat.

I think I quite lucky then. I had 506, managed to get them replace with 601 before any bootloop. 601 till now no bootloop. Had some volume buttons issue and they replaced my entire back including the loudspeaker.

Till now no SD card corruption issue. Had a dead pixel but they won't fix it so my screen wasn't replace. Which was a blessing in hindsight because if they did then the replacement screen will have input issues with my fast charger. I rather have image retention and dead pixel than not being able to use fast charging.

Using v20e, same SD card has been in phone since I bought the phone. It's a Samsung 64gb evo in case anyone ask.

haha its a good camera, not surprised if people ocd it especially it being a camera attached to a $800 phone. My own level of ocd is that so far i have DIY replaced the lens cover at least 2 times cos the purple AR coating got wear and tear. At least the new G5 seems to have a more resilient coating.

I myself had a case where the camera in the middle seemed to have a dark patch, had it replaced the very next day, i sacrificed my office lunch break to head down for them to replace the camera on the spot.

That sounds more like a recommendation on how to deal with LCD that has image retention, dont look too closely :s13:

i changed my LCD back then anyway, got warranty might as well use

theres definitely certain things that if not ideal, i can live with it but camera i use pretty frequently (and is 1 reason im still using this phone, bootloop risk and all) so definitely a bit more ocd toward it.

defo have to check properly la after the countless visits to the service centre. not ocd or what. the focusing problem worsened. just imagine taking all the closer shots out of focus n blurry. before replacement it was still intermittent. aft replacement is not operational except for far shots. i already switched my phone to xiaomi mimax btw. meanwhile hope to still use the g4 as a cam.
