A good workable idea indeed. The marketing department
seems not able to hold certain truth about losing more and
more customers.

Perhaps LG could at least allow all those G4 users with such
problems to get the G5 at 50% discount. But is LG be
generous enough to act on this idea?

I would be more than happy if they do an one to one exchange for a brand new G4. I believe G5 would come with its own set of problems, will stick with the tried and trusted...

It would be a great initiative if LG would do a 1 to 1 swap on problematic G4 with a Brand new G5. This way, can buy back trust of G4 users and gain more loyalty plus points and in terms increase market share... But if cos, this would not happen as dun think LG will be paying for the cost of brand new G5.

No customer is worth that much.

If you're some big shot person like a tech reviewer whose review sample happened to bootloop, then by virture of the fact that you're in the position of a public opinion influencer, maybe LG would concede.

But they'd never do it for a large bulk of the general consumer. It doesnt make sense from a business standpoint and I've never seen any major company do it.

Anyway they know they can get away with it and still continue to have a thriving business.

...

In other news it looks like a April 8 release date for the G5 in canada. Hopefully when it reaches here, there will be more display sets than just a tiny handful of units are one or 2 telcos islandwide

^5 , and i thought i was the lucky one to not have boot loop.

The last change i did was to flash to the V10B.

Can we request for the last variant of LL when we get back our phone?

Hi..wat is boot loop? Noob here..
Issit common for lg?
Nvr use lg b4...tot of getting the G5.

No, basically stuck at LG logo like mentioned earlier in this thread. Not common, afaik, is only happening to G4, at least not on V10. Even my LG N5 is still working perfectly except for the weak batt.

taken from promontory around 8:29

the manual shutter on the stock camera tops out at 1/6000 which isnt enough to properly capture the sun as it will still be too bright and hence appear as a round glare.

Used ND filter to further darken it enough to get the sun's shape visible. Eventually gave up on stock app cos its shutter couldnt be any faster and switched to proshot and open camera. The above shot is around 1/90000s with the ND filter ( i did have some shots with much slower shutter at around 1/150 to 1/200 but then had to adjust the filter and it wasnt easy)

this was a 4x digital zoom so the quality isnt as good either, didnt bring any telephoto lens so no optical zoom. But 1x is no-go cos the sun will be tiny on the photo

Now at page 501.. Soon will reach the infamous 505.. :D

After G pro, G3 and now G4 which I had my 505 mobo replaced to 601 just before CNY, my next phone will probably be back to Samsung, S7 Edge, which has the memory slot back and a big battery, nevermind if it cannot be changed. G5 with the small battery is going to be a problem.

I think they purposely make the battery smaller for users to show off the magic slot every now and then. Lol.

G6 will definitely have a bigger removable battery.

How many famous tech reviewer are there? Some review unit is only on loan, so need to return in the end.

Well if a review unit is on temp loan, the reviewer is mentally prepared that he will only have the phone for a short period. He's not going to accumulate months of personal data like photos and app data on his phone, and therefore will likely be not at risk of problems that show up only later on in the long term (the G4's bootloop took half a year to start occurring).

It's a different story if the reviewer was literally using the phone as his daily driver and got hit by the full impact of problem

tech reviewers however tend to have benefits compared to regular customers. If their device has issues they may be able to liaise with industry contacts to expedite the issue. General consumers have no such luxury.

Does anyone know if v20D is available for us to install yet? Seems like this will fix the stupid /logd battery drain.

Yup what you said is about right - most reviews are not on a long term basis - generally released after embargo is lifted - though there are increasing trends on YouTube for instance where reviewers are doing daily driver / Long term reviews to see how well the phone ages with time :)

To add on, Tech reviewers are sometimes given pre production sets - so certain problems encountered maybe in these sets but rectified in the production batches

Bros,

Im having trouble with my LG G4. Just wondering if anyone having the same issues as mine. Basically, its been going on for months and recently its getting worse. Some of the problem as below:

1) Screen contrast go purple-ish with faint lines slowly diminishing and slowly become become normal
2) Change brightness to 100% and the screen go haywire with auto clicking and auto on off the screen. Basically cant click anything and it clicks / swipe everything by itself.
3) Only when the brightness change to 0~10% it become barely usable..especially msging, facebooking / instagram. It will simply click words, links and everything. (like there is invisible naughty kid clicking here and there)
4) have to shut off the screen and on again for 5~10sec usable time. so keep click power button to off the screen and on agn for continuous usage.
5) the power button at the back become really hot..i mean really2 hot.

I have tried resetting the phone and its still the same. Anyone facing the same problem and any fix for it?

Thanks in advance.
:(:(:(:(:(:(
