so is it a new different issue compared to the so-called 'power connector' problem that bootlooped all the past phones? Or is it just the usual problem?

most of us in the pioneer batch of G4 are down to our last 3 weeks of warranty, its a very bad time for anyone's phone to hit another issue again. And frankly i am very reluctant to buy a new device cos the G4 is still so new and I dont see anything on the market being a significant upgrade over the G4 that is worth 800 bucks (certainly not the G5)

i think LG might think G5 may drive people to move on from G4 as it made a daring change. At the same time off load some of their tech burden. If i still had my G4 now or even after warranty expires in the next 5 months, I will still make them honor the bootloop fix because the problem is never entirely fixed and they will inadvertently happily try to levy charges to unknowing consumers.

their G3 and G2 i dont think ever hit such severe bootloop scandal so im still willing to believe the bootloop problem was a one-off unlucky incident

im more concerned with their design direction moving forward cos the G5 feels like an attempt to upsell modules rather than improve the phone itself (the rear camera and the battery didnt improve compared to the G4) and as a result the G5 actually felt inferior to the V10 in some ways like headphone output and manual mode video

You are still considering G5? ROFL.. I have been telling everybody I know how this company sucks.. If my G4 break again.. I am going to buy a cheap ass xiaomi to tie me over the period until I am due for re-contract.

I think LG in China and Hong Kong have stopped selling G4 a while back. You can get a G4 brand new (HK set) now for S$300+ on TaoBao. Singtel is still selling it on Teleshop.

I brought my receipt. Bought it from 3rd party shop. Can't remember the serial number, I think it is written on the service notice. I'll take a look at it tonight when i'm back. My set is only 5 months' old. Bought in Dec 15.

My serial number starts with 511 ...

no i said that when I look at the G5 I was 'concerned' because LG may be trying too hard to stand out with radical changes and it may mean that their future design mindset is motivated by modules and other gimmicks rather than actually improving the phone itself.

Theres no way i would consider the G5 because I already own the G4 which is just as good if not better. I dont think the G5 is horrible, if a G5 drop from the sky and land in my hand free of charge I wouldnt mind using it. But if you ask me to pay 800 bucks for G5... no way...

Yeah of course every manufacturer would love it if you buy more of their products, even if the newer one is only a 1% improvement over the older product.

have to bear in mind even if you pay to get a flagship that is 1% better than your current flagship, you're still paying the full 100% price tag. And the G5 is very noticeably pricier than the G4

isn't it only released around May last year?

Yes it should be May. How can KnockoutNed warranty expire before that? I remember I was bought my G4 within the first few days it launched and my warranty is dated until 31 May 2016.

I got back my phone today.. The tech changed my screen as well as the motherboard. From 512 to 604! I am glad they did not denied my request for mother board change.. Pray hard the boot loop and screen burn out issues don't come back again..

Indeed I am not gonna buy a phone at full price as well.. It doesn't make economic sense to me..

Your motherboard still functioning fine but you requested to change it? I'm going tomorrow to the service centre. Hope they agree to change my 511 even though it still works.

Yes. My 512 motherboard is still working fine. But I requested for the change of motherboard. Most likely 512 and earlier is not fixed at all..

Yes. My first motherboard replacement was in last year Dec. Then I saw someone got a 2nd bootloop with serial number 512.. That really makes me worried about it. I sent it to LG for testing and they changed it to 604. Maybe the tech discovered that 512 is affected as well.. Probably you should change it since your warranty is ending soon.

Could the next bro here who send their phone in for replacement, ask the tech like which batches of motherboard are the ractified version. As it seems that 512 is affected to since they chose to replace it. Many thanks.
