going for a 2.5wk holiday in oct and am so worried that my g4 will fail on me then, have already replaced the motherboard once for bootloop but you never know when the problem will happen again eh? (or what new problems, touch wood, that may occur) battery life is so horrendous now, and the v10f update is nowhere in sight.. am already considering bringing my backup htc butterfly s just in case, it has so much better battery life too zz.

but now i'm also seriously considering taking the plunge and buying a new phone altogether, closer to my trip. was actually thinking of switching to the iphone 7 when it launches (mainly due to the reliable camera) but the HTC 10 looks potentially good too. only thing is the lack of manual function on the camera, something which I've grown accustomed to after owning the G4.

sigh LG, why couldn't you have done a better job last year.. how can a product leave a consumer with so little confidence and so much worry

the HTC 10 does have full manual. and with it using the same sensor as the 2015 nexus phones (plus OIS which the nexus lack) it should still have pretty respectable low light performance like the G4

However its stock camera app only lets you set a shutter time up to 2 seconds, that's 28 seconds less than the max shutter time of the G4 stock camera.

Still who knows maybe a 3rd party app might be able to go beyond 2 seconds. When I use my G4, I can do up to 60s long exposure using the Freedcam app.

mine died 2 times liao
one of the first adopter of the phone when i launched last year at end of may
died first time in august, sent back to service center and came back with 508 mb
then died mid may again, sent in and came back with 605 mb and new screen.
the screen appears to be a tad yellowish compared to my friend's g4 with old screen

for $280, if there's no bootloop issue, it's a pretty damn good deal.

Thanks for clarifying this! Now I'm even more inclined to go back to HTC, seems like they've finally woken up and made a phone with a decent camera after so many failed iterations.

I haven't found the need to use more than 2 seconds for exposure because I usually do handheld shots, but as long as there's a manual function for me to properly expose dark/night shots I'll be satisfied.

Hopefully there will be a full version of the Google Camera app available for non-Nexus phones. They've added tons of features recently!

Sent my phone for servicing due to screen image burn issue. Apparently LCD and phone chasis is one module only. They also replace my mother board from 512 to 605. Now my phone is brand new again. Only the leather back is 1 yr old. �

Google of all developers should observe that practice, yet the stock google camera is easily the least versatile camera app out there. It doesnt even leverage the capabilities of Camera2 API. When nexus owners wanna shoot manual, they dont use the stock google camera app to do it.

its just like twitter official app, there's plenty of people who rely on other apps like fenix etc (I use plume) because they prefer it. Same for launchers. The app store is an ecosystem to give users that freedom of choice

Honestly I dont believe there is any one perfect app. On my LG G4 I have a total of 8 apps for camera/video, each with strengths and weaknesses and I use different apps depending on the situation, although I will admit LG's stock camera app is already very good in terms of UI.

Got my phone replaced, mine was one of the pioneer generation MB 505. now replaced with 605. Warranty expired one week when it died but they were nice enough to accept it. But the guy said after this, no more replacement liao. Service time was faster than expected, got it in 3 days after sending in.
