I think they became gurus at temporary reviving G4(s) for one final shot at backing up as well as diagnosing.

Would be interesting to see how would staffs there react if they see a phone other than the G4. G5 maybe?

Sigh... I'm rly tempted to get the 1+3 but this camera is rly good the 1+3 will never match up. #firstworldproblems

the oneplus 3 isnt that bad though? I mean it can also do manual mode and long exposure up to 30s, its sensor is the same as the xiaomi mi5 and I believe the same as the new zenfone too.

yes low light is going to lose detail but trust me it happens to the G4 too with the amout of denoise the software does to the photo (even then the G4 suffers from way more low light chroma noise than other phones). Ive actually had to download certain camera apps that offer the option to disable denoise when I want to retain the pic as-is and then use photoshop to denoise if necessary.

Lol, i'm both G4/G5 & P9 user. Do have to say G4 camera is one of the best last year, but P9 special mode make it easier to take special effect than relying on the tuning of manual mode on G4/G5

yeah i had slight 'burn in' issues with my screen especially the notification bar or after closing some apps.

didnt notice if the phone was hot when it happened

i also have the same issue mostly the notification bar. hais. can't do anything but deal with it.

Hahahhahah thanks. I sold my G4 to someone previously and told him that if there's any issue just let me know.. recently it turns out that he sold it to someone else, at even high price. who can actually fetch $400 on carousell for G4 now gosh.

problem is the new batch of LCD was super sensitive to the type of 3rd party charger being used to charge the phone and a whole bunch of my chargers could no longer be used cos the screen would hit phantom touch input while the phone was being charged. Not to mention a lot of people who did similar LCD replacements noted how the colour is less neutral than the original quantum LCD one.


really raises issues with LG's long term support quality. Even not talking about phone servicing, stuff like android OTAs have essentially stopped for the G4 after marshmallow V20C and all of its hideous battery draining problems.

2 weeks turnaround happened to bootloop fixes only because of the motherboard supply needing to restock

A display replacement is much faster, my replacement took less than 2 working days

I wouldn't pay $400 for a G4 (Granted it's an excellent phone on paper)

yeah even the security patch is since jan 2016 and no further improvement on software.

I did tell the buyer that if the G4 got issue he can just come back to me anytime I'll try to get the warranty for him. then again now he sold off to someone else I can't help out anymore.

been testing out the low light mode on the Snap Camera App by Marginz (got the 8.11 apk from XDA) which uses the typical trick of photographing multiple frames (you can even choose how many to take) and composing them to produce a better low light photo


Since I was in the downtown area today (went to try and photograph fireworks again which by the way today had a rehearsal messup when half the fireworks went off prematurely before the pledge taking) I took some scenes from the bay area

The processing time per shot is pretty significant (over 5 seconds) but if timing is not an issue I guess its still pretty good considering all of the above was shot handheld auto mode (which if shot on auto mode on any other app on the G4, would have ISO cranked into 4 digit range and be a mess of noise)

plenty of people did, especially those who had their phones fixed in Nov/Dec 2015 because LG didnt properly diagnose the real root cause of the problem

which is why when last year some tech reviewers are like 'wow LG can get MM out on their phones faster than samsung' and im like rolls eyes.

Only the real G4 users know the truth, that the MM implementation was rushed and half-baked and now they dropped support for the G4 after only 4 months into 2016. How well a company supports a phone is not measured by a race to see who shoots out their android OTA the fastest, it is the stability and functionality of the OTA that shows the true colours on how sincere the company really is on supporting the device over the long term.

And the fact that LG's marshmallow made a ton of users want to downgrade back to lollipop speaks for itself.
